Not sure if it's been submitted (there's no search function for the forums!), but when you're at the sector map (normal gameplay view) and press the sector map button, the domestic policy button's "press" animation goes off. It doesn't bring up the domestic policy screen or anything like that, but it's a minor graphical glitch.

The Game freezes\pauses often and accesses HD For sometimes 30-60 secs. This occurs at random and also in the following instances:

When a movie\cut scene plays(movie will not play through without stuttering and pausing)
when speaking to races for trade etc.
any suggestions on how to stop this?

I setup an army consisting of a few battleships and combat transports, then I added my surveyship. Then I sent this army to attack a system and when it got there it attacked the defenders and won, and then the units were on top of the star. The next turn I had move the units off of the star to allow me to attack the new defenders that had been created.

I'm near the end of my game and it has started acting very strange. Ever since I built a couple of Terror Stars.

First thing is you can put a fleet of ships in with it and hey presto your Terror Star can move 6 spaces. Trying to then unstack the fleet didn't seem to work.

Attacked a planet with the Terror Star (had destroyed a few others) and was prompted for the are you sure you want to declare war question. Clicking No did not work it would only seem to accept yes. Worked fine against other planets seems to be random.

Game crashed out on me a few times and when I went back in the influence on the map had changed from 90% of it mine to about 40% mine. Couple of turns later it went back to my high level and then crashed again.

Also should a "Good" race be able to use Terror Stars?

Ok, caught up again.

// This was originally mistakenly posted in the strategies forum:

Just something minor - the fact that you can press ANY key to skip the cinematics caused some frustration when using the laptop's volume control functions (which come from a special 'fn' key) caused the intro and stuff to skip. Can be annoying if you're viewing an ending cinematic and want to turn the sound up :)

PS The windowed version is a godsend - playing fullscreen on an 1400x1050 LCD was hideously ugly thanks to the scaling

Again, some duplicates here. May I suggest Bugzilla or something, if we're really gonna be contributing this way? :)

1) "Show All" button on the trade screen does nothing.
2) The Espionage and Destabilize sliders are active when the minor races are displayed, but really affect the last major race.
3) Trade Routes display as +2% instead of +2 routes in Domestic Stats
4) Espionage bonuses from anomalies (possibly other bonuses too) aren't reflected on Stats until the next turn
5) No music in the minor races screen. Should probably continue main GalCiv theme, if there's no minor race theme.
6) (possibly by design) Switching social loses accumulated production, switching military does not.
7) The maintenance total on the planetary details screen ignores propaganda. Maintenance on domestic stats includes it.
8) Espionage (and probably destablize) are selected as sliders w/ absolute amounts, but scale from turn to turn as percentages of income. Confusing, and causes micromanagement to keep them steady.
9) Ships stay in stack list when destroyed during a planetary invasion. Clicking away from the last and back clears them.
10) (possibly by design) Couldn't launch a trade route to a minor race. Had a clear route, and was not at war with that particular minor race, though was with another. Unsure as to exactly why route was refused when minor race in question had started a couple with me.
11) Can't launch an empty transport. Should be able to, so as to produce on one planet and take people from another. Possibly ditto for colony ships, did not test.
12) Had +2 starting trade bonus, had +1 bonus from Trade tech, but could only have 4 trade routes. Should be 5 (2 + 2 + 1). Trade bonus not working?
13) When the main map is displaying the tactical grid (i.e. switched from the planets pane), selecting an orbiting ship from the list and right-clicking on the map does not deorbit the ship. If the ship is already deorbited, right-clicking on the map does set a waypoint, so should deorbit too.
14) Best Defended: Thindor. Always Thindor. :)

Note on #10 above, when I say route was refused, there was no message. The minor race's planet just wasn't accepted as a valid right-click for the freighter. Right-click, nothing happens. If it's not a valid target, there should be a message saying so.

oh, 15) There's no way to assign "No Governor" to a planet, so you always have to keep one empty.

Ahh the wonders of a CTD. Was playing around with the starting conditions after deciding I wanted to choose different starting abilities.

To reproduce:
1) Start new game
2) Return to the main menu
3) Start new game
4) Change the abilities, change parties, click details.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but here it is:

If you switch back to Imperium after moving up to Republic, the senate continues to vote every 25 months.

I checked on the government tab, and it said I was an imperium, but I wasn't able to crush the (now) imperial senate beneath my boots.

Speed bonuses from Techs should be clarified. If the tech gives +10 speed, and that means +10%, there should be a % sign listed somewhere. :)

~SDC~
In the latest version 1.01a.034, the speed bonus works correctly...however, your first two ships (the hero and the colony ship) start with 2/4 movement available. They should start with 4/4 available.

~SDC~
Does the speed ability (available at startup in bonus pack) do anything. Spent 8 of 10 points on speed, but colony ship, USS Hero, and newly build ships all still travel measly 2/month.

There is an issue with Cultural Victory. I got the notice that in 12 months I would win a CV. Before that 12 turns was up I saved. When I re-loaded later, I was still 12 months away.

I have saved with 1 turn left until CV, then loaded, without exiting, and I had 12 turns left.
I had CV stick at 12mos through a bunch of a months. My sector influence never changed during this time. I ultimately won with a military victory.

This is a weird one. I've been building size 1 colony ships, colonizing a planet to get moral choices, and then scrapping the colony so I could do it all over again. This was obviosuly an attempt to boost my alignment. It works really good, but after awhile I ran into a problem.

I colonzied the planet with a colony ship with 1 million colonists, got a moral choice, and picked the good answer, reducing production. I'd already gotten negative production questions several times, (I'm guessing the fact that you can get multiple moral choices for a single planet will be declared a bug in and of itself) and when I factor out the space station bonuses, it looks like the planet hit -126%, although the space stations boosted it back up to +269%.

The 1 million colonists were producing 1288490240 + 0 each of military and social the first turn, and -208220013 + -1745859535 research. This would have been great (except for possibly the negative research, although i seemed to still be getting research anyways) except for the fact that the production royally messed up my financial state, and after one turn i was at -49,477,992 billion credits, or maybe more, looks like it might have gotten cut off.

The planet was size 12, there were 5 starbases in the sector totaling +395% production.

Since upgrading to the new versions, I am unable to load some of my older savegames. They load to 100% on the startup screen, then CTD,

1) Confirmed that the Trade skill isn't adding its route, per my bug above.
2) When hitting pass (space) on a ship, all its movement points are taken away. Ship should just be taken out of TAB queue, but points shouldn't be removed--too easy to pass by mistake, not realizing it's highlighted, particularly because Space is effectively the "autopilot move now" key.

ok, in my current game...

version: 1.01a.034

Trade Goods...my understanding is, once a trade good is built, no other empire is allowed to build them....

In my current game, I built Diplomatic Translators...the very next turn, the Altarians built them also. In the diplo screen with them, the trade good is not available to trade with them, neither do they have it to trade with me. But, with another race, I can trade it.

Altarians are Pure Good alignment, SubNormal AI. Large Galaxy, scattered stars.

It seems as though the trade goods are still not a monopoly....

Had cultural victory not kick in twice on a Tiny map. First time, all but one square was blue. "12 mts" displayed, but never resolved as a win. Second time, all squares were blue, and remained that way for several years more time. First game was Tiny, Tight Clusters, all Fool. Second game was Tiny, Tight Clusters, all Normal.

This is my third consecutive game with this problem (2 small and 1 medium universe). I have all but one of the 64 sectors under my control, the game has listed "12mts" next to culture victory objective for almost 2 years now, and it still won't let me win. There are only two enemy planets left in the game, and one of them only has like 5 people on it. Unless I am totally misunderstanding something, there is no way I should not get to win with what I have?!? I even tried running the game for another 36 months beyond this, but all that happens is my people get a lot more unhappy. The only way I can ever win is to conquer every single last planet and I know the game is not supposed to make you do this (it's not FUN after a certain point).

Also, I notice whenever I load the game that most of the squares in the universe revert to black again, but after I run 1-2 turns they are all back to my color. What's up with this?

I still have the save game file in hopes that somebody will look at it. Can somebody please help me?

when making peace with a civ and getting a tribute for several hundred months,
when after some time war breaks out again, the money just keeps coming, it even seems that they are not paying, the money is coming from nowhere.

Don't know if this one have been reported. Here it is :

Could get to war with a race because of the senate (voted against).
So i made a trade with a 3th race : I make war against the first, for nothing.
So the senate could'nt block my war.

;p
