Different custom icons for OpenOffice programs

Hello.

I've just upgraded to ObjectDock Plus after using several weeks ObjectDock, and I think it's a good work!

I have two questions:

1) I want to set custom icons in the taskbar for the OpenOffice programs. But, when I change the icon, for example for OpenOffice Writer, the icon changes also for the other OpenOffice programs. I know that OpenOffice is actually one program, and Writer, Calc, etc are just different "avatars", but it will be fine if I can set more beautiful icons.

2) I want to change the tray icon for the "Safely remove hardware" feature. I found the DefaultAppImages.ini file, but I do not understand how it works. I understand how to set the icon, but I don't know how to specify the program, which icon is to be replaced. I do not see in this file the other icon replacements that I made.

Thanks very much for some information.

Use ResHacker to open the main .exe file in the StarOffice folder (don't have it so I don't know what it's called). Then use Action -> Change icon to change the icons stored within the .exe file. StarOffice references these icons. I haven't change a tray icon before so I'll have to let someone else answer that.

Thank you for your reply,

I tried to change the icons, but another problem appears: I set a 48x48 icon in the ResHacker. But, when appearing in the taskbar, OpenOffice resize it's icon to 16x16...then the ObjectBar apparently points to that resized icon, instead of the 48x48 icon, stored in the program file.

This complicates a lot the problem, so thank you Bowgy4 for your idea, and I think that I'll wait for the next version of ObjectBar where a special icon set for OpenOffice is added

Maybe copying the icon that you want used to your Object Dock image folder in My Documents may help make OD recognize it, making sure to reset image for that shortcut on the dock. Not sure if this will help. but go open config window advanced options & uncheck when a shortcut is added point to the target not the shortcut.

First Clearing the Cache 101

I think I have found the solution.. After you have opened your the program you go to the shortcut that is now showing in the running tasks on the dock..right click & select properties..now you must click 2 times on set image...then change the image to the one you want. I tested this with Openoffice & 3 of the programs included and was able to do it this way...this setting stayed after rebooting and shutdown...I would however suggest saving your theme after this..just to avoid any unnecessary work should any problems occur.

I did almost the same thing, but I have OpenOffice 2

If it works with OO 3, it's a good reason to download it

Sorry, I misunderstood you - you speak about the three programs, not about version 3

So, I tried what you propose, but it's always the same, I have the same icon, even if I clear the cache. Can you post the lines of your AppImages.ini concerning the OpenOffice programs?

what about using rightclick on shortcut & dock entry properties set image for this program...first button ... making sure to select an image that you have stored in the image folder in Object Dock....preferably png format. ?
I do not normally use anything but writer with openoffice...just did a test to see if I could get it to work for you so I no longer have them on my dock...but the above is what I did.
Other than what I have suggested I am lost as to how to help. I am a customer who hoped to help
