Cheats again

I want to make it clear that i would never use cheats and then put it on the metaverse or whatever, also i only use cheats sometimes. (:(

What i want to know is how to hex edit a saved game file, I've downloaded Hex Workshop but don't have any idea how to use it, can anyone help? Thanks. :)

Agreed I just want to cheat and not enter the Metaverse stats. So yes all I'm after is how to Hex edit the money.

you can cheat and fill 100% of the metaverse its may sound lame but i bet people will do so

Sometimes its not so much a matter of wanting to win on a higer difficulty level, but rather a matter of just pure fun. :)

What could be a better tension release after just suffering a military defeat than loading up and inserting 100s of uber ships around your enemy and just out-right crushing them for free. "Take that Yor, I am a god" It's just fun to do things like that from time to time. :D

Thats all I'm after. Already played up to normal level opponents...now I want to just research to Terror Stars build a ton and blow everyone out of the sky.

*shrugged* I imagine the easiest way is probably edit your political party data and add some insane amount of bonus to your ability (+1000% research for example). Now, if the other AI happened to choose the same political party.... ;-P

Which brought me to the question I want to ask, how does metaverse check for cheating? Obviously I can edit the textfile data to make my game easier. Will the score take this into account? How?

Thanks,
-Joe

Metaverse checks for any types of editing in the file, it also checks for trainers and unatural events in the game, say for example that you edit your save game to recive 100 000BC, the metaverse then sees this as a cheat and your score will be posted, but with the namne "Cheater" after it. So its quite risky to do, do you hope that Metaverse wont notice your cheat? Post and risk getting "cheater" after your name isnt that funny :)

Well, for those of you that really wanna cheat, I can't tell ya how to hex-edit your savegames, but I can point you in the direction of a trainer. I recommend "Trainer: +4 by iMSDOX". ;)

Used it, it has one little bug. Sure when ya get the money cheat it'll give 214748364bc, but if not careful you can end up with -214748364bc.

Any mods that are not recognized by Stardock will eventually cause the game to to score on the Metaverse, so the part concerning keeping the scores off of the list is a fairly simple matter.

Hacking the save game is another matter enitrely. I know how to do some minor things, but I don't have any notes put together or anything so others could do so.

' Any mods that are not recognized by Stardock will eventually cause the game to to score on the Metaverse'

Or rather, that's the stated plan, I should say.

What's the trick to that trainer? I have tried it several times but nothing happens when I hit the keys (yes, numlock is on).

We'll probably put out a build soon where you can use cheat keys if you want. But your metaverse score will be zeroed if you try to submit it.

I'm an idiot, too. I activated the trainer before starting the game, turned on num-lock (that's when the numbers are used as arrows, right?) and held the buttons down for a second. Even with num-lock off it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

That's a great idea. It prevents 'unofficial trainers' from screwing up the metaverse. Ofcourse people will still be able to do it (probably), but this way it won't happen by accidence anymore.

Um, is submitting the game where i edited the wonders file to give the TerraFormer the correct ID of 12 going to screw over my metaverse score? :(

The fourth game on my record (large universe, alliance win) has the correct Terraformer ID, and the Altairians built it. It submitted fine.

'Um, is submitting the game where i edited the wonders file to give the TerraFormer the correct ID of 12 going to screw over my metaverse score?'

That should be fixed by now, so... no.

And that is the *planned* setup. AFAIK, it's not in place yet.

Thanks Frogboy - hopefully "official cheats" will help the integrity of the metaverse, while allowing those who wish to vent their frustrations by sending massive fleets of terror stars.

While most would cheats would probably deal with increases to money, tech, influence, morale, etc...

My prioritized cheat list request is as follows:

1) Random Event Now! (for Terran empire)
2) (Toggle) Turns off cultural defections of AI planets to you (but not vice versa)
3) UP meeting next turn (with notification of the issue this turn)
4) Make all races unite in total hatred against you
6) (Toggle) Fog of war for all races

That's off the top of my head. Thank you for your consideration.

Does using mods in the Library affect your Metaverse score?
Mods can affect your Metaverse score. Most mods are currently untested in terms of score change. If your score is too high though (above what Stardock know is achieveable with an unmodded version) then they will remove the score and investigate.

Eh, what if I add myself, let's say... 20 credits? Just for buying new toys for orphans? :) And fealing really, really nasty boy, cheating... :) ;)

Someone may have mentioned this, but doesn't cheating make the game go stale more quickly? This is only my opinion!
