Multiplicity Questions

Just some questions

Hello I tried multiplcity trial a while back when it was still 1.0X version. There were a few things I did not like that prevented me from purchasing the program. Now a few revisions later I am wondering if these "problems" are solved. I also have some general questions about purhcasing the program.

1.) First things first. The current trial (v1.1) DOES NOT work. I installed it on my Vista machine which i have recently bought and the first thing it does is show the "Your trial has expired". Yes, a very nice trial.... I have read and downloaded the trial from another post in this forum regarding this problem, that does not work too.

If you guys don't get this trial to work, you've lost yourself a customer and I'm assuming many others too. I am eager to see if it has improved since then.

2.) A very annoying problem with the older version was that the clipboard is invoked everytime the right mouse button / change view button in explorer is pressed. If you have a very large file on the clipboard, it takes forever. The "X" button on the computer that is sending the file does nothing. Is this fixed?

3.) Does it work well with a Vista machine as the primary and a Windows XP machine as the secondary?

4.) When I buy the program do i get a special link to the full program? Since I don't see a place to enter a serial.

Thanks

5.) Does it make laptops with multiplicity installed a long time to come back from sleeping?

Dude, this is a community forum and things can happen.

  1. No one knew the answer
  2. The post got lost in a flood of new posts
  3. All the replies were removed by THE MEN IN BLACK
In any case, I'll take a shot
  1. The trial may not be compiled for Vista.  MP is not Stardock's bread and butter and they have to focus on the money-makers first.  You might post instead asking how the full version works with Vista users.  That should answer som of your questions.
  2. I believe that the clipboard cacheing is still in place.  Dunno for sure
  3. I've heard yes.  Maybe a seperate post for that question too.
  4. I think (pretty sure) MP (and most of SD's current apps) are tied to your registered email and password in Stardock Central
  5. My laptop never sleeps . .so I don't know

Sorry, your post got missed.  For pre sales questions it would be best to contact support@stardock.com or sales@stardock.com as these forums are not official support.

1) I have not personally tried the trial on Vista so I cannot say if the trial currently works on it.  The trial was released well before Vista came out so there is a chance it does not.  MP 1.2 trial will obviously be tested with Vista.  The full version certainly works with Vista.

2) This was not a bug.  If explorer requests the contents of the clipboard then Multiplicity must provide it.  The X in MP 1.1 will stop the copy quicker than before.  BTW the trial has never contained file support so I am unclear about how you would know about this.

3) I believe there are people using it with Vista as a primary.  Personally I use it with XP as a primary and either XP or Vista as a secondary.

4) The trial cannot be activated via a serial.  You get provided with a special build

5) Not that I am aware of.

Some of the questions I asked were not from first hand experience. As the trial did not have certain fuctions, such as the clipboard sharing mentioned. As with any purhase I did some research before hand and found the problem listed in number 2 posted on this very forum awhile back and made a note of it.

One last question. How long is the support (as in updates) for, once you have bought it?

Purchasing a standalone product usually allows you to get all versions released with the same major version number.

So buying MP 1.1 would allow you to get MP 1.2, 1.3 etc when they are released.
