1 simple question

I have 1 question for all of those people out there that use mods. How do you get the mods to work? I downloaded them and followed the readme instructions, but they don't work. And it isn't because I have a lower version than needed. I have version 1.2. Please, someone help!

Which mods are you trying to use? Not all mods use the mods folder, so installation can vary.

Well, I tried using kryo's hull system, but it did not work even after I unzipped it in the right place. I read the readme and did what it said, but it still just would not work.

Well, if you did exactly what the readme said and have 1.2 or higher, there is no way it *can't* work. What folder exactly are you putting the files in?

It says to put them into the 'program files' folder. I did exactly what it said, and when I start a game, I cannot change the mods directory from default. And it will not work if I download it into the default folder as I have tried that.

For KHSM:

The game is by default located in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2. If you installed elsewhere, refer to that location whenever I mention this one.

If you have version 1.2 or higher installed, there will already be a folder C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\Mods.

Unzip KHSM, keeping the directory structure intact.

Copy KHSM to the mods folder. The structure should be like C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\Mods\KHSM. Inside that folder there will be a few files, and a few direcotries with other directories and files inside them.

Now that it is in the mods folder, go to the KHSM folder and run the .bat file.

In the game, make sure 'enable mods' is checked and go to the Change Directory option. You should have options Default, Example, and KHSM. Choose KHSM.

Restart the game, and start a new game. Mods WILL NOT affect a game in progress that you saved prior to enabling them. You MUST start a new game.

That's all there is to it. If something does not match at any point in these instructions with what you see on your computer, say so.

The change mods button is ticked. I have never once seen the option for KHSM.

Unless you're using KHSM-Lite then instead of the full mod, or installed the mod incorrectly in some way I can't concieve of, I have no idea what you could be doing wrong. It's not that complicated so it should "just work" if you follow the directions.

KHSM lite is NOT a mod, just a collection of ship designs modified to use the blank hulls, so you can get that part of the mod in metaverse games. You just copy those into My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Metaverse\Ships. The mods folder is not involved at all since it is for metaverse games, which can't use mods.
