JBuilder4

Screen Flickers

Hi there, I hope someone can help me please......
(for starters the Return key doesn't work in this forum via Stardock Central so having to type in Edit then copy!!)

Using DestopX with WB, WindowFX, CursorXP and Object Dock.

I need to use a program called JBuilder4 (Java Dev prog) for my university work.

The problem is the screen flickers when using the app (in fact its unusable)

I have added exclusions to WindowBlinds and WindowFX but still the problem occurs, I've even unloaded WB and WFX and still have the problem when using DestopX.

The .exes I've excluded are JBuilderW.exe. JBuilder.exe and java.exe (in the system32 folder)

Any ideas? (I don't want to go back to boring old desktop!!!!)

Thanks

The Sun JVM you have installed is not fully compatible with Windows 2000 or above.

You need to install their very latest version.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the input.

I've downloaded the latest runtime engine/Virtual machine.

Still having a few problems tho.......

If I turn cursorXP off the JBuilder program seems to be fine, but other objects (DX) in view keep flashing, i.e. they seem to be refreshing themselves constantly. This wouldn't be a major problem, except that I don't use the windows taskbar but have DX objects at the bottom of my screen for launching programs etc.

Can this be fixed, or is there a workaround for this..... i.e. a 'object' which hides all DX Objects and a shortcut key to bring them back into view (would have to be scripted to remember if some objects were not in view, i.e. visible, before the 'global' hide all objects is clicked)

I don't want to Unload DesktopX every time I need to use this program if at all possible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Tony

PS: Loving the software, please don't make me go back because of one problem!!!

Ok, done it again just to make sure.

I'm running platform 1.6 (i.e. v6) (disabled the others in the Java control panel).

However still having the same problem.

I think this could be a Java/JBuilder4 problem.....

While running JBuilder it is using a java.exe process, however the Java control panel refers to javaW.exe (note the W at the end).

I know that this is not your area now, but do you have any suggestions or can you point me in the right direction?

Aside from that, how would one go about creating a hide/restore all DesktopX Objects which remembers previous states?

Thanks

Tony

If you have DX Pro you can export your desktop as a gadjet which will reduce it to an icon in the system tray or taskbar.I don't know if that will solve your problem or not.If you save your desktop as one big widjet it might also work. But I would get ahold of Stardock Support,Because this is an issue that I beleive they can resolve so you can keep anything running you'ld like. sorry I don't know more
