Start downloading folks...

Just thought I'd drop in and say that Gal Civ just popped up on my download list in Stardock Central and I am downloading it right now. So if you have Dregnin.net or were a beta tester, looks like you can start downloading...

Huh. Not seeing it yet here. Perhaps having 2 Drengin.net subscriptions (one for over 2 years) isn't enough? ;)

I'll assume it'll show up soon, but geez the pain of waiting...

Make sure you update to the latest Stardock Central which we'll be posting in a few minutes. Then you'll want to make sure you do a Refresh data.

Here is the link. Download this even if you think you have the latest version as the setup program fixes some XML problems.

Just to repeat: Make sure you download the new SDCEntral:

Even if it reports you have 0.99, you will want to reinstall this new version.

I already had .99.138 installed and was refreshing like a madman, so must have coinicdentally shown up when I restarted or something. Dunno, but happy!

For betatesters and for Drengin users. I bought Drengin yesterday and what luck, I'm already downloading GalCiv!!! :)

Woohoo and tomorrow my new flatscreen monitor arrives too. Gonna be late for work ;)

the link that Brad posted is for v0.99.139, not .138, so might want to get it anyway.

If for no other reason than 'cause Brad said so! :)

Mike C: If you buy Drengin.net it will be available.

But no, we're not selling GalCiv individually until 12:01 am on Wednesday.

LordTheRon, how funny! That is exactly what I did too! Ordered Drengin and now downloading a day (technically 2 days) later! Oh how cool!

Kimberly, bouncing about and hoping the servers pick up the pace!

Great SvZurich ain't it?
Just when I thought I had to wait another day, there it is now! Pace isn't brilliant at just over 20 kB/s but it's better than nothing. This is going to be a very short night as it's 1.30 AM for me and I have to wake up at 7.00 AM, but I'll HAVE to play GalCiv first. I'll play the core while the bonuspak and multimedia are still downloading.

As I download GalCiv, I'd like to thank all the people who made this occassion possible...My dad, for buying a computer; my mom, for letting him; my sister, for not being interested in it; Intel, nVidia, Dell, Memorex, for making my computer; Bill Gates, for the Windows OS; Dasani, for allowing me to intake nutrients without leaving my computer; Purdue University, for providing internet access; the guy who invented Credit/Debit cards, for allowing me to buy stuff online; and most of all, the always-on dev whose name I can remember: Brad Drengin. :CONGRAT:

There are several hundred downloads going on presently, how is the speed for those of you downloading? We'll be trippling bandwidth tomorrow on this but hopefully even with our existing resources it should be okay.

Speed is pretty slow. I am goign between 56k/sec and 14k/sec, with occasion slows down to 4k/sec. This is on a 1.1 sDSL line. It's coming, though... :CONGRAT:

Seems to be fluctuating quite a bit. Somewhere between 5-45kb/sec (on 512kbs DSL). Average seems to be c. 20kb/sec.

Also, my SDCentral Application keeps crashing! Should I avoid doing chat, discussion and DL all at once?

I quit and let SDCentral update before i started.

Yeah - speed is bouncing all over the place - I'm seeing everything from 6 KB/s to 100+KB/s (average is probably about 30KB/s or so - maybe a little higher)

hmm...finally realized that my pop-up blocker ( proxomitron ) was causing stardock to freak out. i may have accidentally registered about 6 different identities. oh well. at least it's downloading now.

this whole DGM vs. Stardock Central seems unnecessarily confusing IMO. why is it not in DGM when you can get it from stardock? why does DGM have an old version of TCM (1.1)? who knows?

good job in any case.

cheers

Drengin Game Manager is dead now. There is only SDCentral.

Since DGM is dead, will uninstalling it cause problems to the already installed games, or to SDC downloading Galciv?

Frogboy, you may want to update your yahoo store. I just bought Drengin Network (not the company, just what the store describes the product as :)) and it directed me to download dgm_067.exe, unless you've overwritten that with a copy of SDCentral.

I had bought DGM about a week ago, and from it installed Stardock Central 0.90. SDC found my Drengin downloaded games and offered to update them (after the update from tonight, previous versions of SDC wouldn't log me in).

I will admit having both was somewhat confusing. Glad the standard going forward is Stardock Central.
