How does RightClick do it?

Does anyone have a link or a brief(ish) explanation of how RightClick replaces the standard desktop context menu? Maybe a registry entry that redirects to the RightClick exe (if so, I can't find it)? Does it intercept the mouse clicks? Any hints will be appreciated!
