Glass skins

Ahem new to this and have just paid for and installed windows blinds 5. I am using the VistaPlus ver2 as my skin but am wondering if anyone can help me change the colour to black ,get the translcent aero efect and the side bar with the clock.

A magazine I buy suggested that the transulcent areo effect is disabled by default on the trial version but i have the paid for one but still am unable to find a place to 'turn it on'

The "translucent aero effect" isn't something you "turn on". It works inherently, IF your video card is capable of per pixel rendering. If you open the WB configuration window and click on "View my system information", it will indicate if your system's video has that feature or not.

Secondly, some skins have different substyles. Have you checked to see if the one in question does and if so, is there one that specifically says, "WB5" or something similar? Sometimes authors create a substyle for the older WB 4 versions and one for WB 5 versions. The former won't have the transparent borders, etc.

Lastly, did you uninstall the Trial version before installing the paid version? This is a must. And the consensus here of which I agree, is that it is best to use "Stardock Central" to download and install Windowblinds vs. downloading it as a free-standing app. By using Stardock Central you also have the added advantage of getting the latest Beta updates, which are most always stable and have the latest features and fixes.

From the WindowBlinds Configuration dialog, Click on View my systems information.

If the Never use per pixel borders on a skin at the bottom is checked, then Aero see-thru will be disabled. Uncheck it if it is. Apply and close.

Next, check your Windows Display Properties, Settings tab. If your Color quality is not set to 32-bit (sometimes called Highest or True Color), you will not see the Aero see-thru. Set it to 32-bit. Apply and close.

I hope this helps.
