Blackened part of windows...

I can't seem to find a fix for this. Here is a screen shot of my performance properties. As you can see, I cannot see any of the options because the entire screen is black.

Here is my Window Blinds specifications page.

Can anyone lead me into the direction of what causes this and how to fix it?

Same problem for some time now. Still working on it. Do you use styler?

Check: Let Windows Choose.... (all the boxes in black area should be checked). Apply and reboot.

Styler is a great program but it interferes with WB. I have removed it from my startup and cured a number of problems. One is the changing of my desktop colors and the other is the black boxes. I know for sure it helped the desktop but I cannot recreate the black boxes to see if it caused by Styler. If not Styler, I would look for some program installed that changes any original windows style or files.(Brisco Packs are famous for this)
Check RAM. I Know WB says your graphics card is ok but you may still be putting on to much strain if a lot of programs are running. Hope this helps some.

Use styler in "Toolbar Mode" and you shouldn't have any problems with WB

Sir lantec, thanks for the info. I started styler and checked the box that says "Tool bar". Then reapplied WB. Desktop colors now stay as WB sets them. However, The boxes shown above are still blacked out. When I restart windows (I have taken styler out of the start up) the boxes are just fine. Restart styler and the boxes are black. This happens on 3 of my 5 computers. (All dif but running XP). I really don't care because I have no intention of using the program. Just trying to give some incite to dmciltrot. Could be he is not using styler at all. When two programs fight to do the same thing sometimes it gets ugly.

sleepydawg...

I have done the same as you have. I switched Styler over to TB mode and restarted and it was still blacked out. But if I remove it from the startup folder all together then the blackness goes away.

I suppose I will just have to deal with it until the cause of this clash of programs can be resolved. Maybe I'll Google for some info on the Styler toolbar.

Yeah, that's strange. I have used Styler well over a year and don't have any problems at all.

You know what...I also have Glass2k running I see...Let me eliminate that from the equation and see what that leaves me with...

BINGO!

Removed Glass2k. Made sure Styler was in TB mode and that my performance selection was set to let Windows Choose what is best...

And now I can see the menu with no blackness.
