Conflivt with McAfee Host Intrusion Protection System

At work my IT department has forced deployment of McAfee Host Intrusion Protection System. It seems to cause conflicts for WindowBlinds. Probably no real surprise there.  It causes strange errors in applications, such as Outlook not being able to start up, issues with changing WindowBlinds themes, etc.

I added the wbload.exe to the permitted application list within HIPS and put a per application setting on Outlook.exe to not be skinned in WindowBlinds. All to no avail.

I am posting this on the very slight chance someone else has HIPS installed, and has figured out how to get WindowBlinds to work.

Jay,

I'm in the same boat as you. It is rather strange in the way that HIPS is choosing which software to stop, and which ones to let run. I don't know how your company has set up HIPS, but I can't even open the Display Properties dialog (using rundll32) when I have Windowblinds enabled to change skins as it gets blocked as well. I also can't run Firefox either. IE and Opera seem to work just fine.

I'm having similar problems here
- did either of you original posters find a work around?

I've tried everything at this stage and can't get it working 100% of the time.
Added exclusions for firefox and rundll32.exe but HIPS still blocks things like "Add/Remove Programs"
Also seen sometimes that one of the services gets blocked sometimes (svchost.exe). I don't know which one - but it causes outlook to fail...

All in all - I just can't use windowblinds on this PC and am hoping someone has found a way around this...
