Problem with my Serial Number

Hey, I am in the same position as you. I bought the standard version from GAME and tried to activate it and failed. Contacted support and after a few e-mails going back and forth I was TOLD BY SUPPORT that I purchased a used copy of the game and am therfore only allowed to use the retail version, OMG!?!?! I bought the game brand new with seal, I even have the damn receipt!

I returned the game for exchange and they gracefully accepted it, even though they thought I was lying. They told me they always send back returned key-coded games so there was little chance i got a version that was returned by another customer (at this point i believe GAME more than stardock, GAME have given much better customer service... so far).

So I have a second serial that i tried to activate today and i think you all probably know what happened, it failed! Again it looks as though the serial is registered to another e-mail address . I have sent a rather sarcastic e-mail to support to sort the problem out. Even though the e-mail is sarcastic i still had to restrain myself. If i used words that i wanted to use to describe my frustration the e-mail would have probably been deleted .

I don't know what the problem is and to be honest I don't care, i just want the game to work FULLY PATCHED! I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem and if they managed to get it sorted. Thanks for reading!!

I am also having the same problem. I purchased my version of the collectors edition from Ebay and everything was still in the plastic.

If a copy of GalCiv II was already registered by another user, then your options are limited. More information can be found here:

Many of the copies floating around on eBay are pirated versions of the game or were previously owned, so you may be out of luck, Ray.

Receipts don't really help at all. Please email me at bclair@stardock.com with the serial number you have and I'll be able to tell you if it's been registered previously.

Also, if these copies were sold in Europe, then you should contact Paradox Interactive for support, as they are the European publisher of GalCiv II.

If the game has been manufactured by Paradox, they may have inadvertanly reuse serial ids from a previous manufacturing batch. Who knows? It is better to ask them why a brand new game has a serial id alreadu registred

It would still be helpful for those having this problem to email me their serials (bclair@stardock.com) so that I can try to check from my end if there are duplicates running amok or not.
