Desktop icons

Hi all - I'm pretty new to all this but have a couple of questions. I downloaded the freeware object dock and have all my links from 'My Computer' to all my 'programs' working well; so is it OK to delete the My computer / recycle / My network places icons from the desktop - how would I get them back if I changed my mind later?

I'm also using the purchased version of windows blinds and while the skins work well on the most part they do not skin my menus? ie after pressing the WINDOWS START Key.

Any help would be greatly welcomed. Thanks

To remove your desktop icons right-click the desktop and select properties > then the Desktop tab > now uncheck all that apply. Note this does not remove the recylce bin, for that I recommend Tweak UI...it's about half way down the page.

For the windowblinds problem not skinning the start menu, is it specific skins only? If so list them. Did you have the trial WindowBlinds version installed previous to this? Did you uninstall this before upgrading to the purchased?

Please open up the WindowBlinds configuration window and select system information...copy/paste that here.

Hey KiloKrash

Thanks for the help....sorry forgot to mention that I'm running windows 2000 not XP. I don't have a desktop tab under properties and Tweak UI is only for XP.

The windowblinds problem is with all skins, I uninstalled the trial version before installing the full version.

I feel dumb but I opened up WindowBlinds but have no system information to select.

Do you think all this is due to running 2000 Pro?

Thanks again

System information should be on the left - but I'm thinking you may have "Windowblinds Classic" for w2000 - which I think is 4.6 and no sys info link on the left

Open WB configuration - hit the print key - paste it into paint - upload at photobucket (free) - copy the http url generated there - paste that into the 'insert image' box here.

right click desktop - arrange icons by - uncheck 'show desktop icons' - is that (or something close to it) an option on w2000?

Hey Bichur - thanks bro. Got the icons off the desktop, like you said rick click and select active desktop and show/hide icons. So easy when you know where to click !!

With the windowblinds I don't get anything once I hit the print key from the keyboard - is that what you meant?

once you hit the print key - open paint or whatever graphics program (irfanview is free), then in that program, edit > paste and it should put your screen shot in there. Then file > save as and save as a jpg, png, or whichever to upload to a hosting site.

Right I get what you mean...sorry just didn't understand. Here's a screenshot, once I open the start menu it looks just like unskined version of windows.

Thanks again

The Classic Start Menu (That 2000 uses) never gets skinned.

Hey Meowy - Ok if that's the case then that's great to get an answer to the problem. I just wasn't sure if the program loaded in alright. Shame though. Thanks heaps to everyone.
