If I DL the Beta
Can I still play in regular mode

I just found Gal Civ 2 about a week ago and am loving playing it, but am also really interested in seeing the new features in DA. If I pre order and download the DA Beta, can I still play the game in regular Dread Lords mode?
Likewise, from a screen shot I saw, it looks like all races now have their own ship style is that correct? If so I would probably get the Beta just to see the new Korx ships. So far they are may favorite race, and although I love the Altairian design (my ships are painted solid maroon/darkest red on the panel and look spectacular) I would love to see what my Korxian galleons will look like in the future.
