When you installed the new card, did you uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them for the new card?

If you already had Nvidia drivers installed for the old card and just swapped in the new card without reinstalling the drivers, that could be the problem.

Erm, your using geforce 8800GTs, well, there are lots and lots of issue with the display driver for the geforce 8800 series especially when you want to use directX 9C. I'm facing the exact same problem and my computer is crippled when it's comes to playing games.

Your quite lucky as it didn't freeze up and mine did.

I uninstalled all the older drivers and installed the latest Nvidia
97.44 Nforce drivers for the 8800 series . Still a no go ...

I can play other PC games, but it looks like GC2 ... is more demanding then
the other games I've be playing ... Looks like I'm going to have to wait
for a solution from Nvidia or StarDock ... or install my other video card ..

Looks like new isn't always better in this case ....

in alot of cases new doesnt have propper drives.

Same thing has happened to all previos gf cards. Its not only hardwear exclusive.
When XP first came out there was alot of driver problems aswell. As will there be problems when Vista first comes out.

GenBlood, try editing the fullscreen=1 line in your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\prefs.ini file to fullscreen=0. You may also want to check that the DisplayHeight and DisplayWidth settings match your desktop resolution.
