All you have to do is copy it into Notepad and do an Edit-Replace to change the [ back to < and the ] back to >.

Then save it as PlanetDescriptions.xml, overwriting the messed up one.


Next time, use the Mods folders, that is why they are there.
(or at the very least, save a copy of the original in a different folder)

As for the semantics, the modification was inadvertent, definition number 2 for "unwitting." I opened the file to see what was inside, and my cat promptly decided to walk on my keyboard, making all kinds of erroneous characters in the file. When I closed the file, I unwittingly hit "yes" to save instead of "no."

So, as for your semantics argument, there was no need to be an arse about it.
