Galactic Cicilizations 1

Game help

I'm new to this gaming stuff. I got Gal.Civ.1 but do not know how to take over a planet. That is my question. How do you take over planets. And what are cheates and how do you use them? How do I go beyound my universe?

For the original GalCiv, invading a planet requires that you first research Impulse Drive. This will allow you to build transports.

Build a transport on one of your planets near the planet you want to invade. Upon completion, launch it. You will be able to load it with soldiers, in a manner similar to loading a colony ship with colonists. Then, move the transport next to the system where the planet you want to invade is located.

Use your non-transport ships to destroy all enemy ships in system orbit, then select the transport and right click on the system. You will then be taken to the invasion screen.

I have no idea how to use cheat codes in GC1. I prefer to play honestly.

You cannot go beyond the starting galaxy. If you are referring to the Multiverse, it is, essentially, a high score list. You can submit your game after it's over.

Thamk you for the info. How about using autopilot how do you get your ships on autopilot that are too far from home so that you can use them.

Autopilot is just a term for when you have sent a ship somewhere, but will take more than one turn to get there (so it goes on 'autopilot' until it arrives at its destination. So just give a ship a move order that requires more move points than it has.

To use resources, build constructor ships and send them there. They will build a resource mining starbase (you may or may not be prompted to confrim that action when they arrive, IIRC, or you may need to manually select the 'construct' order). You can send more constructors to increase the bonus the resource gives you. These bonuses are added directly to your civilization-wide ability in the appropriate area.

FYI (in response to your other post), there have been many great changes between GC1 and GC2. If you want to get an idea if you will like GC2, you'd be far better off just checking out the GC2 demo (see the downloads page) than basing your descision on GC1.
