Starbase Modules

I don't understand why I don't have starbase modules available when I move a constructor to my military starbase.

I have researched up to Starbase Projection in the tech tree, at which point Missile Bloom III should be available. But that module is not available. In fact, none of the ship assist offensive modules are available? Can anyone explain?

Thanks.

After looking at Galactopedia, it looks like you need the Missile defender upgrades on the base as prerequisites as I think I went through this long ago, where I didn't realize some defenses are required for some offensive modules. I can't remember, as I rarely do mil. bases. If you already have those though, I'm not sure. Hope you get it straightened out.

I have a chart of SB modules with their requirements. It's from v1.1 so some of the bonus percentages are incorrect but AFAIK the module prerequisites are correct. Anyway it may help.

That explains it. I didn't know there were pre-requisites.

Thanks for the help.

As I think about this, while I think GalCivII is a great game, one of the problems is that these types of prerequisites are not documented anywhere. Somewhere, either in the tech descriptions or elsewhere, should be an explanation of these prerequisites. Is it there somewhere and I am just missing it?

Some of this is in the manual, though the information there is somewhat dated. Your best bet, for up to date information, is in the Galactopedia, which AFAIK reads the game .xml files and is therefore always up to date. There's a sticky about installing it.

I still can't make myself do much work over there, but I'm convinced the galciv wiki could be the right tool to fix this problem, especially if there is some methodical way for Stardock dev folks to mark articles as "accurate" or "needing revision."

No disrespect to the Stardock owner of that wiki, but part of why I haven't adopted it as a resource or charity work is that the home page is too much like a badly-done PowerPoint slide.

IMO, the thing would work much better if the home page had an intro blurb and listed the main "volumes" of the online Galactopedia as links (basically, use the wiki category functions as a way of simplifying the home page). That would enable most of the current boxes on the home page to appear as wiki category pages, much easier to scan and to edit.

It might also be useful to enable all users to add pages (I say that having not yet learned how to create a wiki page).
