Install Error for Object Dock Plus

I/O error

I am getting an I/O error message when I attempt to install OD+ and it goes on to say that their is a bad installation file. I have redownloaded that software but still get the same message. I have also uninstalled and resinstalled and still the same message. Objectdock works fine but the plus version just will not install. All help much appreciated.

wipe it out, reboot

download & install Stardock Central

register your product - use SDC to download and install

Something is still in your system: Download and install: WWW Link Check ObjectDock ONLY. It will take out all remnants of OD. Re-boot, input OD serial # in SDC and install from there.

It look like it is trying to download the software but it won't validate it for some reason. A validation problem maybe?

In SDC, did you enter your serial for OD+ ?

Snaphappy: I would do as yrag informed you in #3 reply. I understand if you are hesitant to download the file, but if you check the File Link, you will see it's hosted on Stardock's servers.

It's the Zapper
Cleans the remnants and removes stubborn uninstalls.

And it doesn't just blindly starting wiping stuff out.

It gives you choices of what to wipe:

No joy at this point. I have run zapper and used it to uninstall and it cleans it up but when I go to SD, enter the serial number (I did notice that my serial number had changed from my orginal one) and start to install it downoads but it fails verification (see code above). So what is happening is that it is not even beginning to install, it tried to download it 3 times, but SD cannot verifiy it so it stops. Anyway folks I am stumped at this point, have never had this much trouble installing something. Let me know if you have any idea, even a guess might help

The number should be the same. Where are you getting them from? What firewall and AV are you using?

You should have a copy of the serial number in one of your reciepts, but if not, follow the link below enter your e-mail address and Stardock will send you the info you need.

Stardock Link

Basically everytime I request my serial number from stardock I get a different number, but whichever number I use it successfuly registers. I have turned off firewall, Virus scanner and Defender during download but still no joy. I think it may be linked to the serial number issue however as that keeps on changing and I am told that it should not. Then again it may have nothing to do with that and may be something else. Anyway this is really really strange, not to sure where I should go from here.

Pretty sure that it is a validation problem here, I can't think of any other reason why I keep on getting different serial numbers (5 different so far).

ta\public\odp\p

doesn't 'public' generally mean free/trial?

after you open SDC, pull down the menu and find OD+ & enter your serial, are you clicking 'update'?

are you downloading ODock for the Misc section or free stuff section?
I am downloading from the Misc section. I enter the OD+ serial number and the only option is to click on register (their is no option to click on 'upate'), which I do and it registers succesfully. It seems that from my end I have really tried everything on my end and this is a prob on stardock's end. I have allready put in a ticket but I will put in another one. Thanks for the suggestions Bichur

if you have put one in, you can use the link to check on the status - and possbily bump it

I am not seeing how I do that from the link that you gave me.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, ..but usually the way a helpserve works is:

:> you submit your problem [ticket] to the helpserve website.

:> you are sent an email confirming you have just submitted a ticket, which contains a "trackback" link to the post you made.

:> you should be able to add further comments to the original ticket, which then "bumps" the post back to the top of it's corresponding category.

:> you should be patient, and wait for the response. These guys are busy folks.

[If this is entirely wrong, please disregard and biff me upside the head when next you see me]

I didn't recieve the confirmation email for my ticket, not sure why not, maybe because it's a Saturday or something, anyway I'll try and submit another one.

maybe because it's a Saturday or something,

that's probably it..

Solved! I deduced that there was something wrong with the downloaded OD+ and the only reason that could be would be an alteration or filter on my computer. Well that filter was Cybersitter 9.0. Apparently it didn't like a file so it blocked it and thus made installation impossible. Anyway that's the answer, thanks for all your help.

Glad you got it sorted, snaphappy.

Good you came back and posted what the cause was, as this info may help others in the future.
