Trade and Starbases

How does it really work?

Ok, the topic title says it all, but I want to know: how do trade routes and economic starbases really work together?

Does the route only get the bonus when the mini-freighter is moving through a starbase area of effect?

Does the route get the bonus as long as the route passes through the starbase area of effect (regardless of where the mini-freighter is)?

How much do starbases stack? Can I line my trade routes with economic starbases to get huge amounts of cash?

Thanks!

Let's go one step further: how does _trade_ work? Should I chose to trade with closer planets if there's more people? Or does distance matter more? How many min-freighters can be blown up before a rout gets canceled?

Yep.

They stack as much as you can line the route with starbases.

I have had massive SBs tied into my trading routes that brought me close to 9K/week in trade income. Took forever to build but the extra BC was nice.

Closer is good if you plan on building up a bunch of econ SB. Further makes more money. As far as higher population, I have read that it does increase the amount you get but I have not seen a noticable difference. I usually send my freighters to the best planet they have that is 4-5 sectors away on a huge map.

Am I correct in assuming that the SB bonus increases the current value of the route, not the avaerage value? (If so, it seems like a good idea to build SBs close to detsination planet)

Related questions:
1)on the trade screen you can see two numbers next to each route labelled as current value/max value (or something similar) However, in my games the numbers never differ, i.e. current value is always the same as the max value. Is it a bug?

2) Besides occasional quarterly report, how can I see how much trade money I am making with a Civ and how much they are making? (Does the relation screen show the total value of thrade with a civ or only its value for me?)

So, if a mini-freighter only gives a bonus when it passes through a SB's area of effect, does that mean that I get more money from faster freighters? Because that way they'll be passing through the area of effect more often?

Regardless how many engines you put on a freighter, the mini-freighters only move 1pc/turn.
