What are good mods to use? are there mods just for ship picks?

I am a newbie

from GalCiv2 Forums
I have downloaded Kyro's Hull mod. Are there other mods that are must haves, or are fun to play with?

My other question is, are there other mods that just have ship picks? I looked at the star trek mod and just want the ship pics, like star trek and star wars, but dont want no other changes yet.

Once I learn the game I will install the Star Trek mod.

Yes, I took the ships out of the Trek mod and use them for regular games. I dont use the actual ships, just the models to make them look trek, so the game plays the same, just has trek ships.

Takes a bit of editing the files, but works great. You just need to edit a few XML files. What I did was take the KHSM fake terran hull files, and paste in the startrek edited startrek hull info. You need to change the XML file so that the {hull} and {/hull} are changed to {structure} and {/structure}, and you need to remove many of the lines, like cost, size, sensorrang, because all you want is the basic info, not costs and speed cause this is just a 'look' not an actual ship.

Of course you need to copy over the actual models and textures also. Im no programing expert, I just mess around, but I got it done after a few tries

wow that is too much for my little brain. is there a file that I can download or can someone out of there good little heart make one for me if it's not too much?

I am not good at editing, espically now that i have a sticky key board, it's hard lol

Go get yourself the hull mod from Kryo. Or if you play Metaverse games you will need the MV version as for some absurd reason Stardock stopped us from using the full mod in the game!! Never really sure why they did it as custom hulls are not a racial boost or anything.

Why not ask the guys if its ok to post this as a stand-alone mod for those out there who only want the new models?

I got the Kyro mod, you mean I can make my own star trek,star wars, star blazer ships with it?

That will be so cool. I played maybe 3 hours last nite of GC II, half hour playing the game 2 and half hours just making my first scout craft for the looks.

No, to make your own ships you need to know how to model textures + export in the .x format. Kryo's mod allows you to use any hull as jewellery.
