WB stole away explorer.exe ;__;

This problem is pissing me off lots ^__^

I downloaded 2 proggies: ObjectDock (macbar!) and WindowsBlinds 5. I was kinda iffy about it but went ahead and installed a theme anyway. It worked fine, lalala, then I restarted...

So of course, it starts up and asks if I want to buy the product or continue the trial. I continue. Wait a few seconds...Wait...NOTHING LOADS. So, I check processes and explorer isn't loaded...load it, nothing. Load ObjectDock so I can see if programs still work and they do.

This annoying problem of no taskbar and no desktop is not worth the theme I had so I went to uninstall. "Cannot load install log". Although, I could run it...

Anyway, help greatly appreciated before I beat my computer. I have an essay to write.

WWW Link

I'd avoid running ANYsoftware blindly posted without any instructions or description.

I'd trust yrag. I haven't seen him give anyone bad advice! The link is to another program from Stardock to reset Minarin's computer. By the way don't use the link if you want to keep ODNT.

The Zapper is for removing those SD products that bork on uninstall.

Haven't had to use the Zapper (I do keep it just in case), but I believe you can choose which product to remove.

Sometimes OD hides the taskbar, you can uncheck that option.

If author had a question, he would have asked (and it does come with instructions).

I'd avoid running ANYsoftware blindly posted without any instructions or description.

That's quite the statement. If you had taken the time to mouse over the link, you would have seen it was from Stardock. A site, I might add, that you appear to have had no problems "blindly" running their programs for free since 2003. My hat's off to you for holding the rest of the world to a higher standard then yourself.

Yrag's a spammer?

No, just lazy.

A link to a program that has no description is not safe.

It doesn't need to be a virus or trojan. It simply needs to do something unexpected... and since there is nothing described, anything it did would be unexpected.

Did I say that it was a virus, etc? There is no way to know what that EXE would do unless it was run. What if it zapped all my registry entries for my Stardock software without warning, etc.???

Actually, it's been longer than that. One day Stardock will have stable software, and at that point I'll buy it. Otherwise I'll continue to download the latest demo and see if it's still buggy as ever.

Lazy? nah.
Just non verbose.

If yrag took the time to post with mucho verbosity he'd not be able to assist as often as he does.  If people take the time to check his bona-fides and reputation/history they would not hesitate to heed his advice and click the link.  I've never seen him steer ANYONE amiss, ever....

...probably

mucho verbosity

...that's Bichur's job and I have no intentions off taking it from him

SimpleSimon: you appear to be missing the obvious....your post in #3 was totally irrelevant to the original author's topic. You, however, appear to feel strongly about this tidbit of info you offered, so by all means ....start your own thread so your wisdom doesn't get lost in this one.

What if it zapped all my registry entries for my Stardock software without warning, etc.???

...not only are you knowledgeable, but you have a sense of humor....what's it going to zap???? All your buggy Stardock Demos???

You'd think after 3 yrs of 'testing' and hanging around, there would be at least a smattering of recognition of the link given.

....your post in #3

Acually I perceive as lazy, making a comment like:

I'd avoid running ANYsoftware blindly posted without any instructions or description.

when a simple forum search for 'zapper' will turn up at least one request from a Wizop for it (that tells me it can't be evil). Not to mention the more than numerous posts you can find it in, in the last 3 yrs. Considering SimpleSimon considers all the products 'buggy', I'm suprised he doesn't have it squirreled away.

Besides, Stardock is about choice. Why would anyone think they wouldn't get one with that particular product?
