2 simple questions

Hi I just got windows blinds and I just got too simple questions first is how do u get it to stop resetting you background? I have a custom background that uses a 800 x 600 image and then I have the rest of the screen black but everytime windows blinds restarts the black part becomes blue again I tired to look for a switch in settings but so far no luck. the second question is the font on my desktop icons became smaller is there a way to make it large again. I tried going into display properties for windows but they are all different now that blinds is installed.

I'm not support, but I think there is a setting in WB to not use a wallpaper should a Blind come with one. First of all are you using the Trial version? I'm assuming you are. If you bring up the WB configuration screen (the main page) and look to the left for Basic Settings. Select it and then look under Enhance Desktop elements and uncheck Apply any wallpaper supplied - that should fix your background problem. I'm assuming this option is available in the trial version - I haven't looked at it in awhile.

As to the Icon font problem you mention, there may be more than one way to solve this. I've tried two different approaches. Since I'm an OD 2007 customer, I know I can download and use IconX. IconX gives you a great deal of control over the Desktop Icons and their display fonts. You have to learn how to use it of course. Maybe the WC staff know if you can have this for free as well, you might need to be a WinCustomize member to have it. The other approach is to create a custom display setting in XP (right click the Desktop and select properties). You then select appearance, advanced, other advanced controls. If you look under item you will see Desktop displayed with a drop box arrow - click it. Scroll down one to Icon. You will then be able reset the Icon font size. When you are done resave your new theme. When Windows starts, after everything is loaded just reload your new theme. Make sure everything is just as you want it when you create it and you will have everything working just the way you want it. I hope this helps.

the desktop color (the black you have around your centered pic) is defined by the skin in use.

there's a couple of posts somewhere in here that detail how to override that.

i think it's unchecking 'apply skins color themes - recommended' in basic settings.

one workaround until the answers are found is to create a black image your screen resolution size and center your 800x600 in it, then use that as a wall.

There are some older posts that deal with the problem of desktop background color. Unchecking "Use any wallpaper supplied" doesn't help--it does control the picture used but not the background. The only way some previous posters, and I, have found to fix it is to edit the skin in SkinStudio. Miscellaneous > Colors, then under Attribute on the right side Miscellaneous > Background - Desktop and change the color value to what you want.

Another suggestion would be to edit your wallpaper in an image editing program, e.g., PSP, PhotoShop, etc... and simply increase the canvas size (evenly distributed) to match your current monitor's resolution, e.g., 1024x768 and choose whatever color you desire for the canvas. Then simply use the "stretch" option for the wallpaper. This way it wouldn't matter what skin you used, the border won't change.
