It probably depends on which Theme you use but you can try the following......

Right Click on the bar and choose "Theme Editor"
Then click on the "Skin" Tab
There should be a Section called "Sizing Ability" click on "Restrict the size of this bar"

I'm having this same issue w/ the new objectbar. The resize option simply automatically sets the width of the bar so that the full text of all items show (not counting taskbar apparently though...). I'm running a bar on the left side of my screen and have an MFU list in it. Some of the program names are rather long, so it keeps making the bar very long. To shrink it, I have to select "Do not restrict the width of this bar". Once I size it to wear I want it, if I then select "Restrict the size of this bar" it goes back to being too wide again. Any thoughs?

Resize it an dthen DO NOT select the restrict the size. The bar will stay the size you made it.

That option could be more clear.

Yeah, but then everytime you reboot it reverts to the wide size. No way to save it in that size. Forgot to mention that part.

Sounds like you may have a widget or plugin that keeps adjusting the space.

You could do what I did for the pandora widget I wanted, create a new pop-up window menu and put your widget there.

Lantec,

I Check the "Sizing Ability" "Restrict the size of this bar" like you said but it did not work.
Just don't know how to fix this.
Thanks for the reply,

I know what's resizing it. It's the MFU List (Most frequently used programs). The old version let you set which elements required all text be shown or not. In this one apparently the MFU list must show the full program title, yet the Taskbar section doesn't require this. Odd. Anyone know of a way to customize this like in old 1.6 versions? If not i may just remove the MFU list...

dstrife: MFU will definitely work better as a Submenu.

rhoss1: Try removing items from your bar one at a time and then restarting/resizing/restricting size/restarting OB until you figure out which item is causing the problem. Remember to put each item back on the bar before moving to the next item. I initially had this problem with the email notification plugin. I moved it to a submenu and the problem went away.
