Expired

I have payed for Object desktop twice. And downloaded all the stuff I needed. Now my subscription has expired and I had to reinstall XP after a HD failed. Am I right in thinking that I can't download any of the old versions of windowblinds? Like say the last version that I downloaded with my OD account. In other words, have I thrown 100 dollars down the drain?

One of the benefits of Stardock Central is that it archives previous versions of Stardock apps either automatically on new installs or on request.

It is up to the user to archive to CD any apps they download.

That being said, I would try to email sales@stardock.com and ask them to look up my expiration status and ask very nicely if they could find a way to get the apps you wnat in the versaion you had when you expired.

Havign ssaid that . . .I think that we are in an exciting time in Windows customization and now is a great time to get an ODNT subscription.

If yoru ODNT sub has expired SDC will show the last available versions? Cool!

I believe SDC will always show the newest availabe, but you may not be able to get them unless your subscription is up to date.

I have seen several posts answered by Frog Boy and others stating you will still be able to download the latest of that which you have paid for.

Don't know if it will be via SDC or if after entering your email, you will get separate links for archived files.

The links I get after submitting my email are only for SD central. And SD central tells me my subscription has expired and as far as I can tell only offers shareware downloads of everything. I'll try emailing. Not getting my hopes up. I agree that OD is a great package at good value. But 150$ is starting to get a bit pricey, so a third subscription isn't looking likely until there are some new features that justify the additional 50$ above the 100 I have already spent.

As with any subscription - based purchases via the net, etc.... it is imperative that the customer/downloader take proper steps to retain 'hard copies' of the purchased software.....just for those times when system failures may cause a 'loss' of downloaded copy.

It's a simple matter to copy/burn backups, etc....but alas that's all quite useless advice when it's already too late....

If you subscribe to a magazine . . and you think you might want to read an article again, you might want to rip it out and put it in a safe place. Same thing here.

Try sales though; they might be able to help.

The original subscription is $50, but renewals are $35.

Well, if you grab a renewal now, you get your un-archvied software back, plus any updates we've made to the apps since 2005 (which there have been a lot), plus you'll get our Vista versions come next year when Vista releases.

$35 is a small prize to pay for the amount of software that comes with Object Desktop. Even if I didnt come to WC id still want my OD. Plus - if you lose everything , I've had Stardock email a list of all my purchases ( i always back up anyway ) but its not that hard to get a copy of what you already bought.
