Upset @ the new updates (was playing 1.1)

First off, galactic civilizations is a -great- game, very fun and I play it and civilization 4 often.

I am very upset at diplomacy trades becoming -worthless- I updated my game this week & I came here to find out why all of a sudden any trade done is insanely rediculous. The patches have taken a LARGE section of the game out. I would like the ability to undo the trade nerf as an optional patch. If players are cheating/exploiting selling planets and converting them back or via war, they are -choosing- to abuse the game. You can ruin your game, i long ago found out about that and intentionally don't abuse the glitch, learn some control. This game is made for single player, eliminating diplomacy has really taken alot of the game out for me as I am a more peaceful player, don't ruin part of the game for us players because powergamers choose to abuse the AI. I'm really upset by this, i enjoy Gal Civ 2 immensly, but without diplomacy Civ4 is a more enjoyable game.
My current game, I am unable to trade a military starbase AND a research starbase for a military starbase in my sector, the computer should /jump at that chance considering the military is in his that I control. Same for buying / selling influence. I like to buy up alot of influence for the votes.

If players choose to exploit the AI with diplomacy IT IS A CHOICE! don't take away diplomacy for those of us who enjoy it and use it normally.

Please offer a Patch to revert to old AI values in trade, I like the new /random options and improved ai, I don't want to undo it just to get a normal diplomatic game back.

I do agree with the OP to an extent. I think the decisions that were made, were made for the best of reasons, but we need something to make Diplomacy more exciting.

I often don't use Diplomacy at all. I rarely need their techs and I don't like their ship designs. I don't need influence and I usually conquer the planets that I want. In fact, I probably only use Diplomacy in emergencies to fend off an aggressor.

Perhaps if their were more things to trade? Rare one-use ship components? Slaves?

I do not want a patch to downgrade or destroy game features that r popular and well liked, JUST BECAUSE THE AI CANNOT EASILY BE MADE TO USE THEM AS WELL AS A PLAYER CAN, sorry to shout, but I hate it when developers take the easy way out and just downgrade/nerf/break a feature in a game I like. Why not try to make the AI use it better instead. Make the AI copy tactics used by the best GC2 players.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way bring back the old gameplay. Bring back population growth, economics, morale, and starbase trading.

Problem with planet/starbase trading was that it was too esily exploitable, just trade one for a whole bunch of stuff then take it back with little expense, rinse and repeat. I can understand nerfing that and I don't really have a problem with it. However, removing well liked features, whatever their negative impact on the Meteverse, is just bad for the game. Stardock does advertise its regular updates as something that improves replay value and is used as a selling point. The justification for changes in 1.3 is that the game needed a "balance adjustment". I don't think the additional content makes up for what's been removed. 1.3 does not meet my expectations of what these regular updates are supposed to do for my enjoyment of the game. Lets hope they do better on the next one.
