Upgrading computer and sig.bin

How to upgrade painlessly?

OK, so I got GalCiv 2, and it appears it creates a sig.bin file that somehow ties it to the hardware, right?

Well, I love to upgrade my computer to keep up with technology, so that leads to a question:

Which hardware?

If I upgrade my harddrives from IDE to SATA, will GalCiv 2 give me any grief? What components do I have to worry about?

Also, If I do wish to upgrade some of the hardware that GalCiv 2 checks, what is the proper procedure to ensure GalCiv2 transfers to the new hardware correctly?

Activation is tied to your Windows installation, not your hardware.

The components the game cares about relate to sound and video. So, if you want to make sure the game runs well, use quality mainstream components like nVidia or ATI video and Realtek sound.

You don't have to worry about activation. If you upgrade your hardware and don't reload windows, it won't affect the game as far as activation goes. If you reload windows, just re-install the game and re-activate, no biggie. You can do that as much as you want. There's no limit on activation which is cool.

OK, cool.

With Vista coming out soon: Will upgrading to Vista affect anything?

You'll probably need to reactivate after you upgrade windows, but the game should run fine under Vista once final non-bta drivers are available for all your hardware.
