System Ownership revealed prematurely

I am 7 turns into the game and starting in a corner. I have only met the Korx and on the mini-map on bottom right I can already see spheres of ownership/influence of all the races in the game. Shouldn't I only be able to see the Korx?

There is a minimap setting to turn ownership on and off.
You have a choice if you want to see it or not.

Hover the mouse over the different setting icons and you should find what you are looking for.

Enable Blind Exploration in Galaxy Setup when you start a new game. Then you will only see influence in space that you have explored.
