HOW TO PROTECT MY STARBASES WITH FLETS

Fleet with Starbases

Im Really sick and tired to see my starbases destroyed because I cannot make a fleet with my ships ans SBses. Is there anyway to protect them, or just kep making constant constructors on 1 planet to make more starbases away from the enemy fleets????

But it is NOT true, I tried it, that is, leave a fleet with 6 additional logistics available on the same tile as my starbase, but the starbase did NOT fight with the ships. Is this thread completely misleading???, or is the some true to this???

No need to form a fleet: If there are logistic points left the starbase will be in the same battle with your fleet- just check the battleview options to always see the battles and you will see... all installed starbase modules will be in battle alongside...

Uhh from my experience no.

but if you put a fleet ontop of a starbase when ever they try to attack the starbase (they have to be on the same square, the starbase and the fleet) the fleet if it is stronger will be attacked.

i personaly defend my starbases with fleets.

Surely if you tried it and it didn't work, then no it isn't true?!

I vaguely recall somebody else on that thread mentioned that it only applies to military starbases but I may be misremembering.

Anyway, if you don't build any modules that add to the *starbases* attack or defence ratings, you should find the AI will always attack the fleet on the square before the starbase.

For military starbases, you'll have to put in *some* starbase attack in order to get the assist modules, but I think you can get away with just battle stations 1. Starship assist modules shouldn't affect the attack order so you can put as many of them on as you want.

It was a military Starbase covering 3 Drengin planets, I first tried it without anymodules, then with lots and lots of military modules,but no, it didnt work. Too bad, it would be a very good way of using the military starbase's power, maybe it could be done in the future on a patch or something  i first tried it without any tech related to Starbases, then with all Defense techs, and then with the Red Starbase techs, but it didnt work with all of those techs researched and the modules built. The fleet defending it was of 4 mdeium capital ships, with help from 9 military resources, but not developed, just captured.

A fully loaded military starbase takes something like 52 constructors.
And when they are fully armed and armored, it takes some pretty hefty firepower to destroy them. Generally only very late in the game when the AI has fleets of capital ships is it possible. I very seldom have even a fully loaded resource base taken out.
And I never defend them with fleets.
Mining the military resources helps quite a bit, as well. A couple of those and you will see your attack and defense numbers shoot up by a lot.

I would not even build a military starbase unless I had all the constructors already built, fleeted up, and ready to install the moment the base is built.

The only starbases i find usefull are influence (you only need 7 consturctors to get a 230% bonus)
and mining starbases.

Econ starbases are good if you use them carefully. My last game I had a clustered corner homeworld and managed to get my 5 core planets within range of a starbase... dropped 3 econ starbases with all the prod bonuses. Sweet.

Still, it would be nice to defend an undefended base with the help of a fleet, and more at the begining of the game, when I focus my money elsewhere than in constructors to defend it, so a couple tiny hulled ships would suffice till medium ships came along.

This you should be able to do. Are you saying you're seeing starbases without weapons or armour being attacked before fleets on the same square?

what im sayin is, why cant the starbase appear on the battleviewer screen with the fleet, its just going to sit there, so is it so dificult to do???
