So has anyone tried playing with all 10 major races + the custom?

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I've managed to get all 10 major races and the custom race in one game. When setting up the game you have to be the custom race, and then when selecting the number of other races set it to 'Randomize'. One of the races should be darkened - click on it and then select Enable. Set the difficulty to whatever you want and then start the game with all 10 races at once (plus your own).

I'm pretty sure this is a bug (or at least, unintended) because in the places where it shows the stats of the races (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) it has "String not found" wherever it should say 11th

Has anyone else done this before?

I play custom all the time. You can't play with more than 9 other races besides yourself. You can play one of the normal races and have them all enabled, but when playing custom, there's one that has to remain disabled. Makes sense because none of the game panels are designed to handle 10 races.

Just tried it and it works.

U end up with 11 races on the map. Try it yr self, BUT, when I pressed next race the game froze with no way out, other than hard reset, my poor hard drive.  

Definately a bug that needs fixing. I am on 1.3b3 (latest beta, anyway).

Sounds like the game only allocates memory for 10 races and when you force an 11th a buffer overflow results.

It crashed? I've played several games on huge maps without crashes (except for at random events like the Ranger - which have always crashed for me). I've never really noticed a problem tho. Glad to see I'm not crazy

Has anyone else had success (ie, not crashing) with this? I hope they fix the String not found bug but don't keep people from doing this. I kinda like being able to have all of the other races around

I've got the campain somebody made on metaverse(mods) that allows you to play with all 10 races plus custom plus the dreadlords look it up on metaverse.

It's not a mod, the only files I've changed are ability bonuses, invasion tactics and political parties. Plus Kryo's mod, which probably doesn't cause this. I can't see how changing those files would change the max number of races in a game.

other than hard reset, my poor hard drive.

I've owned computers since the 80s, hard reset doesn't do shit dont worry. You should say "my poor windows" as thats the only thing that can mess up.

Well, if a file is activly being access when you power down, there is a very, very small chance of that file becoming corrupted. Other than that, there's really not anything that I know of that's particularly bad if you power down manually (or the storm does it for you).
