Start Menu Gone! Need Some Help!

Hello!

I am new to the forums as I just purchased Object Desktop today. Have been having some serious problems tho since installing it.

Aside from my computer crashing twice, the start menu has disappeared. In stead I get black anywhere I move my mouse over where the start menu should be.I don't seem to be able to insert a pic but I can email it to anyone that thinks it would help in figuring out what's going on.
What gives? Some help would be great.

Thanks in advance!

to post a pic, upload it to a hosting site like photobucket or imageshack then copy the http address they will generate and paste that into the box that pops up when you click the 'insert image' button here.

open Window Blinds configuration, click system information on the left, then copy all the info that shows (hold and drag mouse), then paste it here.

It's important that you list what programs you have installed, and which ones you're running. Object Desktop includes a great number of programs.

Did you have the trial version installed before installing WindowBlinds 5.0 from ObjectDesktop and did you un-install the trial and reboot prior to installing?

The dates you have are from an older version and should be updated through Stardock Central. Be sure to check mark "Show pre-release versions" at the bottom of the Object Desktop screen to get the latest versions.

You might want to start with that unchecked so you get the release version from June first. Once you run that and make sure it works for you, then you can check 'show pre release' to try out the latest beta (available to ODNT subscribers I believe) - you might want to consider setting the auto archive feature = makes it a lot easier for a roll back if need be.

I dont get it. I did indeed have the trial version of blinds installed but I deleted it, rebooted & did a drag before buying & installing what I have now. If I just bought the software yesterday, why wouldnt the latest version be the one I downloaded?\

I checked the pre-release & all I get are older version. What am I doing wrong here? Should I uninstall everything & reinstall? Seems like a lot of work.

Ok, I think I figured out the update part. I am still getting the same problems with the start menu. It works & then it doesn;t. Some skins, like my fave metal vista 2.0, shows an invisible start menu that is blackened wherever I move my mouse to.

Here is the sys info now

Was everything working fine with the trial version or did you have the same issues? Do you have the latest drivers for the 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller?

Hey,

No I had the same problem with the trial. There were these messages in the trial that said something referring to per pixel in trial & I just thought that the problem was the trial.

Dunno about the graphics drivers. My 'puter is just a few months old

It's possible that it could be the drivers or the amount of memory assigned to the graphics chip. You could check this link for information on increasing the memory allocation and see if that fixes things. Failing that, you could send an email to support@stardock.com explaning your problem.

WB config/ System Information/: Put check marks on the two options at the bottom. Apply changes. See if the problem goes away.

Okay, so it seems that my graphics card is maxed out to 64mb already & is updated. I have submitted aticket already just wanted to fish around to see if I could get an answer around these parts.

Thanks so much for all the help guys! I really appreciate it! Will post a solution if the tech dudes come up with one that takes cars of the problem!

Peace!

I finally got a response from the tech dudes earlier this afternoon. They asked for my sys info & havent heard anything since sending it. Any ideas how long a process like this takes to get answered?

I do a lot of work on my 'puter & am a bit apprehensive about crashes like the 2 had earlier since installing WB.

Thanks in advance!
