How do you take a screenshot?

In Windows XP I've got a folder open that contains a list of pictures in that folder. I want to take a screenshot of that page and print it out to make handwritten notes on it.

So how do I do that? Can someone please enlighten me?

(I remember doing something like this a long time ago at a place I worked: we used Ctrl+P to take a screenshot, then pasted it in a Word document. But Ctrl+P is usually a shortcut to print, right? So I'm confused...)

Make sure that the folder is the active window (just click on it, that will do it).  Then press ALT-Print Screen.

Open Paint (or Word) and go to edit Paste.

You will get the borders and all, but the folder contents as well.  If you want to edit it, Try a Photoshop program (if you have MS office, there is MS Photo).
