Where's the seperator?

And a couple of other questions

I've been trying a few different backgrounds and it seems, beides from the eminence docks, the rest of them don't have a seperator. I didn't think this was a big deal till I tried to remove a seperator . Its impossible! Everytime I try and grab a hold of it and drag it off the dock, it just moves the dock. So I took a look at the inis for the docks I have decided to use, ecliz by webgizmos, and there is a section for a seperator. It calls for 'StandardSepVert.png' and 'StandardSepVert.png' and 'StandardSepHor.png'. However none of these pngs are in the directory. So where is this standard seperator image and why isn't it loading?

I also would like to know how to load a new theme without loosing all my current settings? I loaded the apollo theme and now I would like to stop using it. However, I set everything up already. I know I can re-load the default theme but I am scared to loose all my stuff. Is it possible to create a new dock based on another theme and drag all my icons over to the new dock? I am hesitant to give it a try as I don't want to loose all the work I already put into it.

Thanks!

Yeah...thats my fault....I didn't include the actual png image since it was just adding a transparent space as a default anyway. You should still be able to grab it and take it off though, I just tried it with that dock and it does come off...try moving an icon to the other side of it so you know where it is and then grab it with your cursor and drag it off...you should see the poof once you let go of it. If not let me know @msn.com and I'll send you an image to use for it. If more people actually commented on things I'd know people actually used the seperators...but on the other hand I should just include them.

As far as loading a new theme...you can save your current theme if you want by rightclicking a tab...click "Dock Settings" and under "Theming" choose "Save Theme As.." and name your theme. Then you can change your dock background to whatever you want without loosing your settings...which will stay the same no matter when or which background you change to actually.

OK...I just made a seperator and added it to the Ecliz tab...and even with the actual image its still a pain in the butt to get off of there...and the image doesn't really even show up. Oh...and my first suggestion of moving an icon to the other side of the seperator...forget that...I just tried that again and for whatever reason it didn't work this time...once I moved the icon back though I was able to grab the seperator and drag it off. I'm gonna try making another image....maybe it wasn't big enough or something.

Update: Ok...Made another bigger seperator and for the life of me I cannot get one to show up. It just adds a transparent space. I'm going to have to write the developer about this.

First, let me just say thank you so much for the ecliz docks! Second, all I can say is: wow! I get a response from the creator of the skin, I am just totally blown away, thank you so much webgizmos! I am very new to objectdock so I just assumed the reason I couldn't remove the seperator was that there was no image so objectdock didn't know what I was trying to grab . I should've realized it'd be more complex than that. After poking at the seperator for around 10 minutes, while I had this post open, I was finaly able to grab a hold of it and remove it. I actually got it a couple times earlier but I was in a 'click-fast' mode so I let go of it before I realized my mouse had a hold of something .

BTW, an hour or so after I made the original post, I tried to stick the eminence seperator in there (renamed the images to what was called in your ini) and it also didn't show up. Then I loaded the eminence dock and I lost the seperator in that background as well. I thought that I needed a desktop tweaking break and I was starting to see things but I swear there was a neon blue seperator in there when I first tried it. So I think there must be something screwy going on with objectdock and thanks for contacting them. Would it help if I also opened a ticket with stardock support about this?

Thanks again webgizmos and a bow for your amazing work! I, for one, seriously appreciate it!

I've found that if you move all the dock icons to the left of the seperator, you can then drag the seperator off the dock.

Just tried this with Ecliz, and it worked fine.

Finding the little bugger wasn't much joy though ...since it's invisible. Took about five random mouse-grabs to wrangle the beast.

Thanks for the kind words SilkShadow...much appreciated!

I wish I could have been more help though. I never used the seperator so I had no idea it wasn't even showing up in the docks. But like I said, what I did was make one and put it in there but couldn't see it...so I made a bigger and still couldn't see it. I even pulled one from another dock and tried that...still nothing.

I do agree though that it is a pain in the butt trying to get that bugger outta there. Its kind of hard trying to grab something you can't see.   It was doing the same thing to me at first....pulling the whole dock around...so I moved an icon to the right of it just to confirm that there was indeed a seperator in there...and still couldn't get it out until I moved the icon back to the left of it...as Eric said...then I was able to grab it and pull it off.

I'm going to play around with this some more until I figure out why its not showing anything or until I hear something from the developer of ObjectDock. When I have anything one way or the other I'll post it here. And maybe in the meantime someone else might come along with an answer as well.

I use many of your docks, but no matter what dock I'm using, I Always use seperators on the Zoomer.

Thanks KiloKrash...I'm gonna check and see how the default seperator shows up and try it with an actual image as well and update stuff if its needed.

Not at all! Just knowing that the seperator can be removed was a big help. Before, I thought it was impossible. Heh, I had all these seperators in my docks that I couldn't move or remove. Thanks for your efforts!

Yup, I use seperators all over the place (in zoomers and tabbed). I think, when I get used to objectdock (start being able to find and use my icons automatically), I will probably reduce the number of seperators I use. Right now I use them to mark where certin classes/types of apps are for quicker identification. However, I don't think I will ever stop using them as I like the way they keep classes/types of apps seperate allowing me to have much bigger tab containers and not have to keep clicking tabs.
