I'm not smart enough to cheat

Hey, I'm strating to try metaverse games and the first one I tried to post came up saying that cheat codes were detected- i've got the version 1.3/ beta 2a version of the game. I'm not computer literate enough to cheat- so I'm wondering what happened- do you have save the games a special way or play a certain sized galaxy? Thanks

There are some issues with the 1.3 betas, where using a custom race that you configured in a prior version can trip the cheat flag. Cari's added a warning to the game for the next build of 1.3 that will tell you if you're in such a case. Until then all I can really tell you is to try deleting your custom race and reconfiguring it from scratch. Unfortunately, we cannot remove the cheat flag from a game once it has been flagged. But then you also shouldn't be playing a beta patch if you aren't wiling to take these sorts of risks.

Besides, it looks that using CTRL+N while starting a metaverse game also sets a cheater flag.
I noticed that pressing CTRL+N in metaverse games (1.3.betas) did not trigger an usual starting screens' (universe/races/abilities) sequence as it was in all games since 1.2 beta 2 when Cari removed that bug.

it's the best to keep the 1.2 version until the 1.3 full version comes out...

Do you have any mods loaded from the boards? If you do then that is your problem. You might want to de-install the game reinstall and then update to the latest NON beta driver.

I had the same problem but I played with custom race, I had to reset it then re-enter it and I have not had any problems since, however looking at your post you stated you don't play with a custom race so it must be another problem.

re-install is the last option, are you still flaged?

You don't need to re-install to get rid of the cheater flag.  Just go to your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder and delete the .raceconfig files and then re-configure them in game.

alright! now I'll be able to upgrade to the beta without to worry about the cheating flag!
