Cheat Flags?

On my last game, I noticed a red icon with a skull and crossbones... Does that mean that the game has been flaged as a cheated game? If so I find that a little bit annoying because it happened to be the best game I've ever played also it took me over 6 days ( not non stop ) to finish. I have noticed alot of people complain about the same issue, I have the mod folder turned off and I did not have over 10 points in the abilities tab. Maybe it was because I used a custom race? The only thing that I had done differently in that game was use my own custom race icon and portrait. Although i doubt that is what caused the game to be cheat flaged. Perhaps there is a way for Stardock to look at the cheat flag games to come to a decision if the player did infact cheat or if it is a game issue. And if it were to be a game issue Stardock should remove the cheat flag from that game. But other than this I have not had a problem with this game otherwise and in my opinion it is by far the best game I own or have ever played.

If this symbol was next to a planet in-game, that means the planet is in danger of culturally flipping, either to your civ or to another civ.

There are some issues with the 1.3 betas, where using a custom race that you configured in a prior version can trip the cheat flag. Cari's added a warning to the game for the next build of 1.3 that will tell you if you're in such a case. Until then all I can really tell you is to try deleting your custom race and reconfiguring it from scratch. Unfortunately, we cannot remove the cheat flag from a game once it has been flagged.

I thought Stardock can play with the user as much as they want too... y'know... delete his score, his games, his medals, his rank.... his cheating flags... that's too bad..

Deleting score records is one thing. Editing them is something else.

So basicly what you are saying is to delete all my custom races then remake one from scratch? Thats to bad but that should only take a minute to replace. Hopefully once I do that I will not have the same problem again, I knew that it had to be something with the custom race's because that was the only time it has ever happened to me, thanks guys.

Ok, well the last game i played i redid my custom race from scratch, yet i still got the cheat flag, and i just submitted another game using another custom race, so if it happens again i think its safe to say that if i use custom race's i will get shafted into a cheat flag eh

I submitted a game last evening a got a cheat flag as well with the lates Beta. I have been playing around thru all the Betas to see what was working etc but had never finished a game until last evening. I wish there were a way that the player could unsubmit his game, surly that should not be that hard, afer all there is a list of them.

there has been quite a few updates realesed for galciv2, in your opinion Weyrleader what is the best beta they have realesed, preferably the one with the least bugs in it?

If you want the most tested non-beta patch available, use 1.2. It really doesn't matter 'which beta has the least bugs', since if you want one the only one you can get is the latest (1.3b2).

i would go to 1.2, but i think the lights on the planets gives the game a new feel, besides i think i have fixed my problem, the last game i submitted went through fine

I have the latest updates, but I still don't see the lights on the dark side of the planets at night

I think i found the problem, i reinstalled galciv2 and just updated to 1.2 ....

I didn't realize this until i reinstalled but when i would hit ctrl-N to start a new map. for example a huge map would only take about a minute to load, and when i'd hid ctrl-N it would just load to a new map, but after the install and update to 1.2 i noticed that when i hit that button it would take me to the metaverse login. So i believe that was the reason for the cheat flags, also when i'd select the custom race it would load up the last race i clicked on for example the drengin. It would load up the drengin race and the abilities, and when i'd pick another race. then pick the custom race it would be for example the acreans with there own set of abilities. I dont know how to really explain it properly for everyone to understand but i believe that is the bug. Also if you check my games, i played as the altarians but when you hover the mouse over the picture it says i played the acreans. I believe that the bug would select a different race then the one i was playing, if that makes any sense

I got a cheat flag too, and I'm not too sure why. I picked the Altarians and altered the abilities by unchecking one of the default abilities to free up enough points so I could get the speed boost. The ability points were at zero after that and the tab wasn't red indicating I was somehow using more ability points than I was allotted. So I was somewhat surprised to see the game flagged as a cheat after I finished. The only other thing I did was quit the game and the load it a day later to finish, (unfortunately I don’t have the time to play but the small and tiny maps straight through).

So what’s the deal? Did I unwittingly cheat somehow or is this a bug? Reading the other posts I see a lot of talk about a bug occurring when using a custom race, but not a built in race like the altarians.

Well, if you were to look at my games i used the altarians, however if you hover the mouse over the picture it says i used the acreans, also i know what the problem is....

when i went back to 1.2 and i hit CTRL-N to start a new game it would bring me back to the metaverse login... when using 1.3beta AND 1.3 it doesnt do that for me, it just starts up a new map without asking me to login again, and i KNOW for a fact ( because i did some testing on my own ) that this bug is the reason i have been getting cheat flags aswell as others. Also another bug, if i start to play a metaverse game, and i jump to the main menu, the "New Game" button is greyd out, and when i play a new game and jump to the main menu again the "metaverse" button is also greyd out, could it be a bug also or just something wrong with my computer?
