AI Starbase Placement

bloody annoying this.

why is it the computer can place starbases within 3ps of my starbases?

thought this would have been sorted by now. sick of going to war just to remove them.

I play the game as a peace loving but evil race. Although I dont mind giving the computer a good ass whooping... I try to maintain galactic peace by solving wars and preventing asslimilation of other races by their foes.

Dunno why I do this, its just the way I play the game.

But they get on my nerves with their starbases and they end up black and blue

question is - why can they place starbases where they do when I have to place them 3ps apart 'for navigation reasons'?

What version are you running? I'm not sure if the rule was ever properly enforced on the AI or specifically between players, as it was changed in one of the patches to simply be 4 starbases per sector max, with no limit on how close together they are (so you could cluster 16 starbases together at a corner).

The number of starbases that the AI spams out there and abandons, I'd guess that they burn horrendous amounts of their treasury doing so. What is really annoying is when starbases are planted on the square where starships usually leave orbit. I wish I could tractor them all away to a black hole or something.

I hate those dumb little starbases that the AI puts around, and they always put them in the dumbist places, like puting an economy base near one of my planets. Then I have to pretty much massacre that race to teach them a lesson, but I think they're retarded because always do the same anoying thing, then I have to rinse and repeat.

I thought that the 3 Psc Rule only applied to MY starbases only, not the other civilizations. By that I mean they can put their starbases close to mine, but their own starbases have to follow the 3psc rule. So I can have an economic starbase beside my most productive planet for the Milatary and Scoial bonus, but then all of a sudden, the AI send a couple Influence starbases and place them near those planets right beside MY starbase. Guess the AI needs some work with that code, cuz its obvious that strategy wont work on my most populous planets.

They place starbases randomly to extend their range, they couldn't give a damn what happens to them. It all helps.
