/Qoute- Several unnamed races have appeared in Stargate continuity that could in fact be the Furlings. Possible candidates include the Salish Spirits or the Giant Aliens from "Crystal Skull". When Executive Producer Robert C. Cooper was asked "Will we ever meet the Furlings?", his answer was "Who says we haven't?"[1] The Asgard give no indication that the Furlings are dead or gone, nor do they state that they have died off or moved to a different portion of the Universe (whereas they clearly state that the Ancients are no longer active).
Joseph Mallozzi claimed that more about the Furlings would finally be revealed in Stargate SG-1's tenth season. [2] In a Sci Fi Channel advertisement for the 200th episode, Cooper stated "We're finally going to get to to see the Furlings." What was actually shown was a fantasy of a character's story telling in which the Furlings were portrayed as a race similar to the Ewoks. Because the scene was a fantasy, the true nature of the Furlings has yet to be revealed.
The word furlong is derived from the Old English word: furlang, from furh furrow + lang long, "originally referred to the length of the furrow in one acre of a ploughed open field. The system of long furrows arose because turning a team of oxen pulling a heavy plough was difficult. This offset the drainage advantages of short furrows and meant furrows were made as long as possible." It is, therefore, possible that 'Furling' refers to a race that planted intelligent life over great distances, rather than referring to the race's physical appearance.
If we finally get to see them it will be on season 10 or the next 1 so kool, maybe they turn out to be a kind of race inbetween humans and ancients, planting Intelligent life everywhere they went, but not acended like the ancients.
