Not All Icons Change.

I had Icon Packager a while ago but had this same problem so left, I recently came back and still have trouble. I have version 3.11.106 installed, updated today. My music (mp3;wav;etc.) and my .JPG icons NEVER change. I have to manually change them, no matter which theme I try. It's very annoying. Also my c drive is always the default icon of any theme I install. I try to change it manually, it changes briefly then goes back to the default. The other drives are OK. Is there anything I can do to improve this please. I'm not very techy so don't get to technical with me. Thanks very much for any help offered.
Maureen.

Have you tried restoring to default, repair, rebuild?

After posting I did see restoring defaults mentioned somewhere. I tried that and the correct .jpg icon installed but still not the various music icons. It always comes up with Winamp's icon. I played around with the settings for Winamp then even un installed it, now the Windows Media icon loads each time. I've not tried repair or rebuild, I'm afraid I didn't know what they do. Thanks for the help, I will try them in the morning and see what happens.

Well, I've been playing around a bit more and getting very frustrated. It's different each time, but each time there is always one of those icons that need to be changed manually. The c drive is the default no matter what is applied - even the Windows default icons - so that must be a problem beyond Icon-Packager, although it only started once I'd installed the darn program!! While installing one of several themes it managed to apply Winamp's icon to the music files even though Winamp is now deleted. This is very disappointing, not what I expected when I paid good money for a program. Thanks for the help though.

Did you just delete wimamp or uninstall?
did you put the file association back to wmp?
try right clicking on a music file and setting the open with to wmp (or whichever you're using) and set for all files of that type

do/did you run stylexp or other 3rd party program that also changes icons?

OK, I DID un-install Winamp, I've done what you said and associated the music files to WMP, and I used to use Bee Icons to change icon theme sets but I completely un-installed it to return to Icon Packager.

which version of IP?

I remember reading something about icons and IP and Bee Icons but I don't remember what it said, and due to the limited search options I can't find it.

I installed the latest as of a couple of days ago, version 3.11.106. I played around with a few more theme sets, I applied one set and the .JPG was right but the music icon was Winamp again. Then I tried another and both JPG and all music ones were wrong (default for both) The last one I applied - 'My First XP' (and one of my favorites - applied everything correctly, except for the c drive icon which will not work right no matter what I try. As I said it flickers to the correct, and wanted, icon then goes back to the default icon of that particular theme. If I try to right click and go to 'change icon', in the 'current icon' window it shows the correct applied themes icon name. Very odd. Thanks for trying to help me.

Success in one of my problems!!! I had a feeling that this c drive thing was not down to Packager, although it started the same time as I installed it. I did some research and found this a problem that has hit others. Here is the answer, for me and some others anyway:- http://www.winxptutor.com/driveicon.htm
It's the Autorun.inf part that was my fix.
I STILL have the problem of random icons applying within Packager, tried to apply a different them just now and got the right music icon but not the JPG. Sigh.

A friend had a similar? well when i say simmilar i mean probably exactly the same but his problem with the icons was caused by using stylexpee to change the icons and try to get away without using the icon packager software. she resulted in phantom icons changing back and forth upon page max and minimise, refresh and restarts and bootup. i solved this by backing up his personal gear and doing a clean install i purchased the full stardock with everything that opens and closes for her birthday now it runs like a system with a Athlon 64 4800+ Dual Core and Gigabyte GX2 7950 Ultra 1GB gddr3 , 4GB registered buffered DDR4000/PC500 CL3 should. We have twin systems i let her go buy the hardware upgrades and if they produce good results then i usualy get the same Hardware Hence me Doing all the software stuff for her.she has more cash than i do so if she makes a stuff up purchase i suppose she can swallow it. I got so sick of all the hardware upgrades she did i needed to see if it was the hardware or the software that was the issue so it turned out to be it just required a clean install. I only upped my card from a 7600gt to a 7950 GX2 and all the stardock features came alive like i have never seen before. I sugest to any one if you have money to burn  I do not get yourself a big fast card that takes it all away from your CPU. I hardley noticed anything in the way of interface performance by installing a Athlon 64 4800+ Dual core from a 3800+ Dual core I am using 4GB Reg Buff also but i have now OC my system at around 3.45GHZ Theoreticaly 6.9 GHZ i took it out to 3.62ghz theoreticaly 7.24ghz . I decided to wind it down a little as i detected i think some instability.I dont usualy Overclock but have all the necessary hardware fitted to do so and i was actualy frightened but i thought stuff it the 3800+ DC felt the same speed as a 4800+DC so i had to test the waters. all works good. i have 3D mark 2001 and that shows the actual 2 processor scores as one IE: 2X2.4 Is 4.8 and so on. all boulds after show the dual GPU and Dual Core.
