System Tray Icons not visible in some skins

I can't find my problem in the forum so.....

When I apply some skins, my system tray icons are 'invisible'! Could WB4 (I have 5.01) files in those skins folders be the problem? My only option till now,has been to 'delete' the tray image in Skin Studio, but this spoils the skin.

I love Windw Blinds, but am frustrated by this problem..Any ideas?

Thanks Purrdy...

Going for the simplest solution - did you check your WB config in user overrides to be sure its set on " Skin decides Task bar size " ? If its set on Small - the sys tray is blank on certain skins. I know there is another solotion to do with changing the content margins numbers - but its been so long since i've had this problem i forgot.
Although since WB 5 came out I have found a few older skins that just won't work right.

Can you name a few skins your having the problem with ?

Problem Skins:-

Turquoise
Wine (Golden-Night in WBlinds prog.)

Can only remember these offhand - am going through all skins one or two per day to check, so may have more next weekend! I'm only online weekends! And yes, I have the setting "Skin decides Tbar size" checked.

Thanks for your help Fairyy- (cute name btw)...

Are you referring to " A Golden Night II " by alex chung
If so - I just tried it and the system tray icons appear normal

Im using WB 5.00 build 54 x86

So hopefully someone from Stardock will be along today or tomorrow to help you out with this.

I am having a problem with this also, however it is on ALL of my skins, and it only seems to be with the programs that load on startup. Without fail my Yahoo, MSN, Logitech Tray, Firewall, and Windowsblinds icons are not there, I can hover over the Windowsblind Icon (which I cannot see) and get options, but the other two are not there at all. However, if I end the process, or in the case of Windowblinds, unload and reload it, then when the programs start back up I can usually see the icon fine.

I should also add that I have Object Desktop and just recently fixed a problem (I got the fix from another part of this forum) that had me delete an Icon Packager DLL (iprepair something-or-other?) that was stopping my computer from connecting Windows Disk Management Plug-In and also stopped programs using rundll32 from loading, is it possible that these problems are related somehow?? I haven't tried uninstalling Icon Packager entirely... I'd rather not if I dont have to...

Is it only with windowblinds that you have no sys tray or with other applications that have sys tray icons too ? Re; Object dock - DX themes - Right Click Progam, etc. If its all the programs it sounds like the sdmcp.exe isn't activated. I'll just paste the directions that Super Wizop Koasati gave me long ago -

Directions:

This is an MCP problem.... look in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock .... place sdmcp.exe in your startup folder. (you can double click the file to start it, without a reboot, and your systray should work.)

sdmcp.exe

Further directions if needed:

Windows hides file extensions by default, Go to Tools > Folder Options > View tab...... un-tick "Hide extensions for known file types" > OK.

Open C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Add a shortcut to sdmcp.exe there.

Or in SDC go to Tools > Settings. On General Settings page check "Enable MCP Notification Area Support". Reboot.

It was already enabled on my end, and I went ahead and ran the exe anyway, but nothing. In answer to your question about SD icons Fairyy, Windowsblinds shows up sometimes, and DTX shows up all the time, I don't know if IconPackager/CursorXP etc have taskbar icons as well, but if they do then mine are not showing up. I dunno if it has to do with boot order or what...

Yeah - that is enable in my SDC too - but I make that shortcut in my start up anyway.( the double clicking on the exe didnt work out for me.

I have seen what your describing before - the icons missing from the sys tray - yet the mouse over shows the text options so you know they are there.

Are you running the current up to date versions of everything >? Have you just upgraded to a new lately?

Maybe you better list your system stats and versions of WB's etc so someone from Stardock can help you out.
