price of dark avatar

Dont u guys think $25 for an expansion pack is a bit high?

I bought the game of amazon.co.uk for £15, (which is about $25)

Paying same price for expansion as full game seems a bit hmm....

P.S It's been a while since i've been on these forums, like it much better with new design!

That's going to be true for most games that you buy several months after release, from a discount source. Bet you could buy Civ 4 somewhere right now for about the same prices as C4:Warlords (don't even know how much that will cost).

Cheers,
Reaver

Err, was it a used copy? I don't see how Amazon sold it that cheap, it normally retails at $39.99

So considering the large amount of new stuff, I wouldn't agree, $25 is quite reasonable considering how much new stuff is being added.

Considering the amount of stuff that's shaping up to be in the expansion I think $25 is looking very good value. And (I can't believe I'm saying this 'cos I'm a really tight-fisted SOB) I feel the amount of hard graft and improvement SD have put into the game post-release merits me giving them extra money! The game was released in as finished a state as most end up after the last patch, bar some minor showstopper bugs (which never hit me) so the amount of extra work put in is even more incredible.

Reaver is right about the Civ4 and its expansion. Here in Canada, a store is selling both the game and the expansion pack at $29.99 each. Normal life-cycle of a product stuff.

Erm, £15 is pretty cheap for a new game. I bought my CE for (IIRC) £26.99 and still thought that was a good deal. Considering the amount of post-release work the Stardock guys have put in, I certainly don't grudge them another £15. That brings the price up to the normal cost of one new-release game - most of which don't have a fraction of the longevity of GalCvi2.

USD$25 is just about average for an expansion. New games generally run $40 to $60.

$25 (or approx £15 in real money ) Doesn`t sound too bad to me, especially when you see how much has gone into it.

The original game was not nearly done. It was playable, but no where near up to par with stardock's previous games. Having said that i think they've mostly gotten it right now. I still think the the AI can improve. (to me they got the hardest parts down pat, and the easiest parts have been neglected) PLANETARY MANAGEMENT.

Just started a 1.3 game so maybe the game is finally where it should have been a year ago.

I won't hesitate paying 25 bucks for this expansion however. This game has so much more to offer than anything else out there. I just wish they'd have priced it at 50 dollars and polished it correctly in the 1st place. Hopefully with 25 dollars they'll deliver something that's shear joy...

The expansion will require the base game anyway, so better late than never

Well you don't have to get the expansion...

Hahaha, just kidding, like anyone on this forum isn't going to!

It may not have been up to stardock's standards, but it was nearly done by general industry standards IMO.

I have a Total Gaming Net Account with a lot of tokens from when I originally purchased GalCiv2. Is there going to be a method of payment available to utilize these tokens for a preorder?

Thanks!

I bought the game from play.com for £12.99 about 4 weeks after release. Bargain.

Will it for sure have Terror Stars?

It is unkown at this time if it will or not. They have not been mentioned in any of the releases, at least.

As far as I'm aware, there won't be Terror Stars in the expansion.

Space sharks are monsters that spawn from space anomilies that attack everything they grow in experience and hit points and move/attack the closest target(s), if they grow powerfull enough they can take out a well armed and defended starbase

They really need a way to use Tokens + $Cash$ to buy stuff on TGN or at least sell less then the 10 or 5 Token packs.
I have 2 tokens left from a long time ago and don't see anything in the near future I would ever be interested in getting except (dark avatar) and there is no way I will buy a Token pack when I only need 1 Token, so I guess I won't be playing it till they drop the price to 2 token 3-5 years from now, or input a way to buy 1 Token at a time if desired.
I would Pay as much as $10 USD for 1 token just to be able to use them all up.
