Cool desktop to be designed for a promotion

http://www.fragwear.co.uk
I hope that someone can help. I am launching a promotion for our site www.fragwear.co.uk, selling geek T-shirts.

The promotion is an active desktop people can download, I have been told that object Desktop and\or DesktopX is what it will be designed in. What I need is to have images of our models wearing the T-shirts pictured on the desktop. Now we know that can be done in OS by saving a desktop image, but the difficult thing is we want the image to change every day rotating between 7 images.

Out of interest the site looks pretty crap at the moment the new site will be re-launched on an OS Commerce base in on the 18th of this month. Test area is www.modit.co.uk, comments welcome.

Give it a couple of more days for people to read the thread. It's summertime afterall and people might not frequent that often.

Just to clarify things:
You want a widget that changes the wallpaper of the desktop once a day? Do you want the widget to have the wallpaper supplied with it or do you want it to download the wallpaper from your website?

Also, if this is for commercial purpose I think people would be more 'persuaded' if they got some benefits of their own for doing this.

Didn't sound that valid when I read it.

In order for a widget to run the user would have to have DesktopX installed.

You would want a gadget. So you need one of the skinners with 'Pro' version.

You say you are launching the promotion, but you were told it would be done with DTX. No mention of who would be doing this in DTX?

You mentioned an active desktop, I believe (from perusing Stardock) that might require an "enterprise" license.

Having a gadget made to order would be your cheapest option

I think you might only need an etnerprice licence if you replace the existing functionalities like the icons and taskbar. So a wallpaper changing gadget sound like the best option.

Yes just a simple widget that can change the picture each month. However on this image we will want a hyperlinked banner to our site.

Gadget - a gadget is self contained = having DesktopX installed by the end user is not needed.

Widget - requires DesktopX to be installed by the end user before it will work.

You want to make sure you ask for and receive the right one.

There's quite a few out there (or in here).
You'll have to be patient. They also have outside lives.
