needing a mod for a standing start

Ok I've no modding experience but im loking for a mod that firstly, strips all free techs from all the major races, then also srtips the 2 ships you get at the start (colony, survey) this way leaving me with a "pre warp" time. meaning i'd have to research everything long with the other. Mainly as i like to play in huge galaxies with very slow tech rates. It all just feels to arcade like and quick otherwise, i like to be able to go back to the moo3 style of play in a sense. any ideas?

I don't think such a mod exists, but I could create one pretty easily.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could do that, as i've no clue as how to get it done?

Well at the moment I'm spending most of my time on the Human Factions mod, but after that's released I could do something like that.

Ok well then to be a little more precise, here's what i'm looking to do.

A pre-warp mod.

The Essentials

All major civs start with no techs at all for free. (can only build the very basic building to start with) [minor civs dont need to be affected as they come later in the game once everyone has started travelling so its no worry]

No civ starts with any ships at the beginnning. ie. no free survey ship to magically know all anomallies and galaxy, or a free colony to give the quick boost.

Optional stuff if possible.

Anomalies randomly respawning. I find it odd that just as you found all the current wormholes that no more get discovered, specially as I thought the were random unstable pieces of space stuff etc.

I can't think of much else at this time, but combine that with a huge galaxy and a uber slow tech rate and I feel it gives a much better feel of realism to the whole thing. Even at huge size I find that you can race through a game in a week or so. When I look bcak at MOO3 I dont think I ever actually finished a game on the huge galaxies.

Well, I can do the no free techs, and will have to ask around about the ships, but I don't think it is possible to have respawning anomalies.

Just out of interest, have any of you downloaded the Human Factions mod?

I can't think of much else at this time...

Strip away the core ship designs, because they become available before they can be legally built?
The AI can design ships, can't it?

I havent even heard of the human faction mod? If someone could throw a link or something? As to the ships, is there a console type cheat system? It could be a case of then just cheating to destroy everyones ships. Though also if the AI can design it would be great to strip the predesigns.

personnally i just want to pull a complete overhaul of the tech-tree.... add some techs to make the Doomray a little more efficient (doom rays have less damage-to-weight ratio than other weapons... missiles are actually the best weapon available... blackhole eruptors cause more damage with less weight than blackhole guns and doom rays...) by adding some new generations to that tree...... stuff like that.... also add some new ship sizes and make some truely giant machines... after huge might be immense, titanic, collosal, incomphrehendable, infinite....infinite being an ultra tech that has something like 800 size.... with some more miniaturization abilities you could create monstrosities with that... add soem new soldiering too.... creating invasion fleets is very hard...

The only way to start without ships would be a scenario using a pre-defined map, AFAIK. It's not something you can mod into normal random games.

Anomalies are *supposed* to respawn, but appear to do so very slowly (or not at all). Again though, you can't change that by modding.

If you strip all of the starting techs from the AIs, will they know to research them?
I kind of was hoping that the starting techs would be in the tech tre to research??
Also, is there a cheat console or something that allows you to reveal the map and spawn/destroy ships? this way you can reveal the map, destroy all aships and hide the map again?

The AI is able to research starting techs: some races start without Xeno Comms, Galactic Warfare etc.
hhhhhm.... but would the AI research and use techs that the players made?

In the tech xml, you can give a value to techs which determines how much the AI values it.
If you're looking for a tech tree overhaul, try Wilson's alternate reality mod in the library. I've downloaded it but haven't played it yet.

Ok The good news is both are doable. Firstly you just simply strip all races of free techs then they all start from stratch, secondly whilst you can't delete the predesign ships without crashes, you can strip them of all components. This way hopefully meaning the AI won't build any. However sadly the two first ships still start, so the AI still can try to colonize and survey, I've seen it send to any and all planets/anomolies. I havent worked out this at all yet.
