Is the Neutrality Learning Center actually buildable? (bug?)

Hey guys, I got a question. Whenever you choose to be neutrally aligned and also happen to research the Neutrality Learning Centers (NLCs), do you have to build them like you would a normal research building, or its it just a major resarch bonus that gets applied to your research abilities without any other requirements? Because in my game, I never see the NLCs become available for construction once I research them, so is this normal or some type of glitch?

Sounds like a bug on your end. Its an upgrade to the research center. I'd say to double check your build list, make sure you have scrolled up and down both sides because it is buildable.

Which version of the game are you playing?

If it's less then 1.2, it's time to upgrade. The NLC building wasn't available in 1.0 (the technology was in the game but it didn't do anything), it was added later in one of the patches.

As ignuss said the NLC was not in the retail v1.0 release. It was added in v1.1. Make sure you are running v1.2, which is the latest version.

If you look at the total research points produced by the NLC, you'll see that it's also an upgrade to the Discovery Sphere, something I didn't notice until this week (I bought the game in April). I was somewhat surprised to find that, since the NLC has always been available to me before the DS.

But keep in mind you have to upgrade manually, because the game doesn't auto-upgrade that for you.

After you upgrade to 1.2 the NLC will automatically upgrade once you have researched it

The part about it being an upgrade from the Discovery Sphere is what makes being neutral so great. If you are neutral you are pumping out tech pionts like crazy way before the other alighnments, therefore an increbible research boost to stand up to the improved weapons and defenses of the other alighnments.

actually the last game i played my matrix's....matrices wouldnt upgrade and i actually had an option to build NLC...but this was only one game thus far out of 9...guess I lucked out on started this game @1.2

True. I had to tell the game that I wanted to upgrade the Discovery Spheres. If you get NLC before DS, it will automatically upgrade Research Centers to NLC. After you research DS, it will default upgrade to those instead of NLC.

It does the same with the invention matrix if i research that after the NLC. Running 1.2

That's because they set the upgrade path for NLC's to upgrade off of Research Centers instead of Discovery Sphere's, which would have made a lot more sense. Prior to 1.2 they didn't automatically upgrade at all because the upgrade path was completely missing. They added it, but for the wrong tech, oh well. You can mod it to correct it, or just leave it alone and manually upgrade them if you happen to get past Research Centers before you get NLC's, it's not a huge deal.
