Custom Race settings not saving

driving me insane...

Pretty much what the title says. Using 1.2 and my changes to the custom race are not saving in between games. Every time I start a new game I have to go back through and redo all of my settings; it's not a big deal, but it's a bug that's been bothering me for awhile now. IIRC it cropped up during one of the 1.2 Beta's and I never really bothered with it.

I've cleaned out all my custom config files (ships, races, etc) and I'm not running any mods. My next thought is to do a reinstall, but I figured I'd put this up and play one more quick(ish) game first.

If the debug.err is needed, let me know and I'll post it.

PS. The text box emoticon selector hates Opera 9. ;) (manually done, if that worked).

It's a bug, but there is a workaround. You can solve the problem by overwriting the "Custom Race.raceconfig" file in the CG2 directory.

For example, my custom race is "Hole". The file created for my custom race is "Hole.raceconfig". By renaming "Custom Race.raceconfig" to something like "Custom Race.old" then renaming "Hole.raceconfig" to "Custom Race.raceconfig", the game retains my custom race settings. When you change your custom race settings, rinse and repeat.

On my system these files are located in;

C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2

Please tell me that you're not conquering the galaxy with Courtney Love as your leader!

OT, though, I had noticed this, too, and thought I was going crazy. Thanks for setting it straight.

Hehe, yea I am actually. I downloaded a png image of her and replaced the custom race png so the game uses her portrait too I figure, all the other races will hate me right off as soon as they see who my leader is, hehe.
