XGL / Compix like features for Vista?

With Vista supporting a 3D accelerated desktop environment, will Stardock be developing something similar to XGL / Compix (which is currently only for Linux) but for windows?

If you don't know what XGL / Compix is, check out this video:

Of particular interest to me is the virtual desktop (which can be on a cube, octogon, etc) and the Expose type features.

Thanks!

The XGL/Compiz thing is pretty nice as far as eye candy goes. I've played around with it, but for all it's coolness factor it's a pretty heavy resource drain.

I'm willing to beat that Brad's being tight lipped while he's working on something along the same lines.

I'm not that up on Microsoft but isn't Aero supposed to provide a level of eye candy to Vista?

I have played with it too, and yes, it's amazing eye candy! As bloated as Windows is, I don't know how it would handle your entire desktop experience in "OpenGL"

My take is that if the rendering of the desktop is being offloaded to the GPU and you have a video card that could handle it, the GUI would be faster.  I know my Ubuntu system with XGL feels more responsive than without XGL.
