Most commonly used apps auto add to a set amount

Is this possible?

When you hit the windows button, and the start menu pops up, you see your most used programs. I would LOVE for my Top 10 used programs to exist in my main bottom bar. There should be a way to exclude particular apps of course, but rather than move icons in and out of my dock, Much like the sys tray bar, it would be nice to have a most used bar. Does this already exist? Is it possible to create?

thanx,

ahwhocares?

EDIT::: Ok, for some reason I can't reply, so I'll just post here. Of Course I'm using Object Dock, that's why I'm posting in the OD forums. Let me rephrase, so I'm more clear. I would like a dock option to look for the most used programs and put them in the dock, so they change as my usage changes. You would be able to control the number of icons. So if you want 3, it auto adds the top 3 most used programs. If you want 10, it puts the top 10. and as those 10 are changed, it would auto update those 10 shortcuts. It refers to object dock.

Does that make more sense?

Well the start menu list only accounts for programs run from the start menu itself. If someone stops using the start menu to launch programs that list becomes static.

Maybe they could have OD keep a list of the most commonly used dock items though.

windows xp has a function to do this...

- open the the start menu
- click on the programs button, navigate your mouse-cursor to the program (not a program group) you want to always appear in your start menu when you open it
- right-click to the left of the desired program name
- a popup menu will appear, select "add (or pin) to start menu" (don't know the exact menu item name as i'm running a german language version of xp)
- the selected program will now appear in the start menu to the top left

- to remove an item from this list, right-click on it and select the menu item "remove from list"

by the way there is also a way to stop a program name from appearing in the most recently used program list to the lower left of start menu - unfortunately i've forgotten how

just a question - why don't you just use the quick-launch function in the taskbar..? or even better still the program "object dock"..?

anyway hope the info is of use to you...
