Neutral alignment bonuses

where did they go?

Finally got my Xeno Ethics done and chose Neutral, expecting to see the Neutral bonus armor types in the tech tree and they weren't there! I've done it a few times just to be sure and they never show up for me - what happened to them?

There aren't any. There is a bug in the description.

Your planets get auto upgrade, you get improved relations and you get the opportunity to reseach NLC's, the temple of neutrality and additional trade routes.

That should be enough...

In v1.1, there were special armor types for defense againsMissle, Beam, and Mass Driver weapon types. Did those just get nixed for some reason or is it a bug that they're not showing up?

There were only defence upgrades for good, and weapons for evil.
Nuetral has some of the best upgrades i personaly think, expecialy with that hole every square avialable early in the game thing

Yea, neutral rocks big time, been playing good/evil recently, want to play as every race but when I have done this its going to be neutral all the time for me, that PQ bonus is just mega, mega mega...

Although I agree neutral gets a nice bonus in planet tiles and the ability to research and use NLCs I have to ask myself why the hell doesn't it work on later planets. When you have the PQ ability bonus, any bonuses from being an evil empire, the neutrality all tiles available doesn't actually give all tiles available.

I have had plenty of games where I can see easily that my planets should have 30 to 50 tiles, but even the 20s and sometimes teens don't add up. Instead I have less.

SO, somethings not working right with this. Add that into the fact that the rail gun system is frankly a crock into to late in most games the neutral races frankly take it in the proverbial hind quarters as far as working bonuses.

Just my opinion, not humble, not degrading, just wondering if being neutral has any real benefits that are working besides the NLC.

Suralle... I think you are misinterpreting the neutral benefit. "All" tiles is a bit subjective... it's really all improvable tiles. ie: all tiles that could be improved via terraforming, etc are available as soon as you choose a neutral alignment. All the benefit does is prevent you from researching 2-3 planetary improvment items.

Still, it's a very useful benefit, considering you could have every improvable tile available long before mid-game instead of late mid-game.

The extra trade routes have been the difference between solvency and bankruptcy when my planets are upgrading enmasse.

Of course, the wonders of the Neutrality Learning Centers have been well documented.

I haven't tried playing good, or evil, so can't comment on their benefits, but Neutral works pretty well for me.

They also get morale, ship purchase discounts, free terraforming, and a soldiering bonus vs good or evil races, all of which are awesome. Further, those NLC's are better alone than the entire bonus set of a good civilization (good civs get basically nothing). Evil civs do get a few nice bonuses, but overall Neutral is way better at everything.

After playing neutral a few times now, and working toward Xeno Ethics much more fast, I believe I have noted that there are no more, morality issues...

Anyone else noticing this?

I have to ask why? To be perfectly honest I choose every beneficial thing that comes along up to the point where I have been choosing ethics neutral lately. If there are slaves, I take em, if there are ship bonuses, I snag em. Than I pay the 2500 or 10 large for the neutrality equalizers. Viola! I am neutral and everyone either likes me or doesn't really care about the bad things I did.

Shouldn't there be some "award" for falling off the alignment? Kinda like losing an election does when your a republic or above?

Whats yer thoughts?

Be GOOD, and I mean ALWAYS ...

naw, the defensive buff wonder is nice, and good tends to own the UP. oh, and the good defense techs are somewhat nice, give a defense bonus if nothing else. the rest is a joke tho.

about neutral tho, does the discount actually work? i always forget to check prices before i take ethics and after the prices look about what i think they would be without the bonus. and if they DO work do you have to access them thru some specific screen(like starport rather than planet mini view)?
