Unfair - In AI Favor

Stacked Ships

When I attack a stack of ships I always have to attack the most powerfull ships\fleets first. When the AI attacks me they attack the undefended ships first, then ships with weapons, then fleets. Doesn't seem fair to me. It would be more realistic if it was random, you always want to attack undefended ships but the weaponized ships would always try to respond and make you fight them first. I would rather it be standard, either way, as everything else in GC2 is going for equality so should this. Either let us attack the transports in a stack first or don't let the AI's.

I've never had that happen to me. The computer always attacks my strongest fleets first, and then my strongest ships in each fleet first. I've never lost an undefended transport or freighter in a stack or fleet unless every single ship with weapons has been destroyed.

what the hell do you mean?
this is NOT true, the AI doesn't do this not even on the higher difficulty levels.
i suggest you make sure they r actually in the same fleet or stack.
You're kind of people r just looking for things to complain about, and if yoy don't find one, you make 1 up

I always attack transports 1st, fleeted or not. There the only thing that can take a planet and really hurt you. I avoid direct attaks on purely military fleets unless I need to in order to protect my own assets. Never really noticed the AI's pattern as my goal is to take the enemy planets as quickly as possible without fighting every fleet in his armada.

Within combat, after two fleets are chosen, the computer selects a target based on a MostWhupAss formula.
Last I heard, the formula looks about like this:
BestKill = Weapons / ( HitPoints + Defenses)
I don't know if it takes into account the type of weapons vs defenses on board the attacker.
That would be intelligent, and it might already do that.

Outside of combat, when an attacker charges into a stack of ships or fleets, which one is chosen to engage in combat with the attacker?

My guess is that the defender can stack an escourt with a less combat worthy vessel (vs that attacker?), and the escourt will be engaged first. Perhaps it uses the lowest BestKill to find a suitable defender.

But things are not always what they seem.

The battle viewer doesn't know computer players from human players. They're just ships.

ok here is the answer.. remember the UP law that allow transports to have some level of offence? well when the transports start to shoot, the AI shoots at it. i just realized this a while ago when the AI shot the transport even if i had it fleeted with a dreadnaught with doomrays

Hey, hey! Stay polite in your responses, guys!

What do you mean by 'guys' (guys being plural)? Since the only responses before yours was mine and Surtak's I take it to mean that you believe my response was not polite. I said nothing harsh in my response only what I've had happen in my experience and, as such, take offence to that comment.

Note: If you were just upset with the way Surtak phrased his comment and pluralized 'guys' by accident I completely understand and you can ignore this post.
