Duplicate Civilization Capitals

The Foibles of Galactic Conquest

I have a Technological Capital on one of my planets, but when I conquered one of the enemy planets I found another Technological Capital already built there. Do I get an additional tech bonus for it? If not, how do I get rid of it to free up a tile?

You get the tech bonus for that planet, I often hold off on my conquests early game to let the computer build it's various capitals, which come pretty early anyway.

You cannot delete them. But you do get the extra bonus. It's great!

Now, if only they didn't build tech capitals on planets with nothing but factories and didn't build manufacturing capitsls on planets with nothing but labs. I wonder what the AI is smoking sometimes...

I got an AI planet last night with nothing BUT capitals... tech, economic, manufacturing, politcal, and a couple of lame super projects, plus a trade good. It had a few useable tiles, but DANG.

I think that when the AI puts a tech capital on a planet filled with factories, it's trying to reach equilibrium.

As for the one AI planet with all the capitals and the trade good, I just guess it does some dumb stuff.

And even if the wrong buildings are present when you get it, there is nothing stopping you from replacing them with the correct buildings. So, you can turn the situation around to get the full benefit.

Erm, yeah, there is. Have you ever tried? Not even orbital bombardment can take care of a capitol.

The AI will demolish things as your Fleets get closer. Thus the empty tiles and seemingly useless builds. They were useful until the AI demolished the supoorrtung buildings. Scorch and burn policy. And maybe put some salt in the crop soil.

Once you arrive it looks lame and you think what good is this to me?!...Exactlly!

There should be a rubble icon on the tile.

Destroy colony does though. I had no choice but do that as I captured a 5 PQ by influnce and the AI had built a tech capital, econ capital, star port, food, and a factory on it. I would rather they not build em that put them all on the same low PQ planet.

That's not what I meant. I mean if the AI has built mainly factories on a world they have also placed a Tech Capital building, you can replace the factories with research buildings

i think that you should be able to demolish the capital buildings .... actually all the buildings (like super projects) if you so desire
