No Music

When I play GalCiv 2, there is music on the startup screen, music when I discover something, but sometimes there isn't any music in game (when you can move your ships and such). Usually, it can be cured by restarting the game. But sometimes it gets really annoying!

Any ideas how to fix this?

I've never seen this, but I'd try just going to the options screen and toggling the Event Music and Music options in the Audio tab. This should jump-start the audio if it ever gets confused and stops playing.

I've found when I alt tab back and forth between the game and something else (just a text file say of notes for strategies written down), the music sometimes stays off. Maybe it's a memory issue as I only have 512MB and I heard the game wants a gig or two. Also on larger maps if the game starts going slower, it won't want to do music as often.

Sometimes, when I start up the game, the music plays very, very softly. When that happens, I just quit and start playing again--then I am properly greeted by that flare of brass when the main menu comes up, and the rest of the music is fine, too.

Sometime's it's soft forever and then someone declares war and then it gets booming.

FORUM BUG -- Latest info ....

"please post a message before submitting your article". I keep getting this and can't get out of it even trying new posts. For a while posting new threads worked and then now no matter what the interface looks different (with rich text stuff on it and like regular verses fancy text code used to be below now it's on a second page)), too and I fill every field and try and try. Replying to articles worked.. I've rebooted, restarted my browser, cleared the cache and cookies, nothing. It only happens when I create new threads.

This forum won't even load on MSIE, just firefox. Netscape loads it but it freezes Netscape.

I tried making a new account (with cookies cleared) and still the same problem.

Okay here's an example. I used to see no rich text controls and then suddenly I do

Also there were no tabs and this image part was below the top just scrolled down

And this is the error message I get

I tried to post this update of screenshots and the entire forum FROZE! (my internet connection worked fine) and I could not view or post for hours. The only response I got was the server said, "The article requested does not exist."

I recently tried and no dialogue box comes up but, it fails and says, "There was an error submitting your post. Please try again." in red right above the category part.

^ That's a major error!!!!

I've tried toggling the music, that didn't work.

I never alt-tabbed.

I tried exiting, re-starting my computer, and then starting a new game, that didn't work either.

Although after about 20 turns the music randomly came on in one game. In other games, the music will come on after building a starbase or declaring war, so maybe it has something to do with events? Or, maybe it's not being triggered until an event happens that creates new in-game music.

This definitely happens to me but it's really hard to pinpoint when there is and isn't music. You just notice after about twenty minutes that it's dead quiet. Kinda sucks when there's no internal MP3 player.

I have the exact same issue with the music going bye bye. I love the background tunes and it bothers me to no end that it is gone.

I'm not that attracted to the background tunes. Compared to the stuff they've already fixed this is much less important. It does alter your perception of the game as something that "works," so I guess it could affect sales somehow. The built-in MP3 player of the last GalCiv would be much more nicer.

Oh well, I guess I kinda enjoy picking my own tunes through windows media player.

...Try playing the super mario song!!!! It brightens up any game.
